6 deleted scenes from ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ that will break your heart

[Editor’s note: This story, first published on December 17, 2019 and updated today, is brought to you from our Star Cinema Archives.]

Just when you thought “Hello, Love, Goodbye” can’t break your heart any further, this happened — Star Cinema released some deleted scenes from it and we’ve never felt this much sepanx over a movie, ever.

We finally saw six scenes that didn’t make it to the final cut of the Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards starrer. While the film itself has done an excellent job at bringing us through Joy and Ethan’s emotionally charged journey in Hong Kong, these scenes are sheer emotional rollercoasters in their own right:

1. Joy's wish for Mary Dale

Ever since Mary Dale (Maymay Entrata) set foot in Hong Kong, she’s always had her Ate Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) looking out for her. In this scene, we saw just how big Joy’s heart is for her family, telling the younger woman to nurture her own hopes and dreams.

2. Joy rethinks her decision to move to Canada

In the movie, Joy is dead set on moving to Canada, but in this scene, we get to feel that she may also be having some doubts about her decision.

3. Mrs. Chung comforts Joy

This particular scene showed Mrs. Chung’s soft side: she comforted Joy after a long, tiring day, and even offered to share a drink with Joy to ease the pain. Plus, when she said, “You love you, too” to Joy, it just shattered us, besht! 😭

4. Joy, Sally, and Gina look for Mary Dale

In this deleted scene, we saw the “Hello, Love, Goodbye” girl gang search through the streets of Hong Kong for Mary Dale after she goes missing.

5. Ethan and Joy take a stroll through Hong Kong

Is it just us or is this deleted scene between Ethan (Alden Richards) and Joy walking along the streets of Hong Kong giving us major K-drama vibes? 😍

6. Ethan sheds tears of ‘Joy’

It really strikes differently when it’s already Ethan who’s crying! And when he shed those tears of "Joy," as pointed out by Jhim (Joross Gamboa) in this deleted scene, we couldn’t help but just feel it where it hurts!
