It was a fun-filled, kilig-infused, laugh-trip, action-packed thrill fest at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, August 25 as the entire constellation of Kapamilya artists converged for the annual Star Magic Games.
After the dust settled, the dream combination of previous Star Magic Games rivals Gerald Anderson and Daniel Padilla, co-captains of the Star Magic Warriors prevailed over the Vice Ganda-led It’s Showtime All-Stars in double overtime, 119-109.
Gerald led his team to victory, with Daniel swooshing in the needed baskets, including a late three-pointer in overtime to seal the win for the Warriors.
Gerald won his third straight most valuable player trophy.
It was heated match, with Zanjoe Marudo of the Warriors bowing out in the second half due to a cut in the eyebrow area after a collision with Eric Tai of the All-Stars.
But what really delighted the crowd was the entrance of Vice Ganda in the fourth quarter as he provided the needed comic relief amidst the tension. He even scored a solitary point off a free throw after a Daniel Padilla foul that drew the loudest cheers.
He earlier entered the court after Kuya Escort Ion Perez, scored from beyond the arc.
With Gerald and Daniel in the Warriors were Kyle Velino, Gerhard Acao, Patrick Sugui, Joe Vargas, Jose Sarasola, Ronnie Alonte, Donny Pangilinan, Axel Tores, Young JV Kapunan, Zanjoe Marudo, JC de Vera, Ejay Falcon and Joseph Marco.
With Vice on the All-Stars lineup include Ion, Eric, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Billy Crawford, Jimboy Martin, Ryan Bang, DJ MOD, Vitto Marquez, Kid Yambao, Paulo Angeles, Zeus Collins, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, Polo Laurel, and Johannes Rissler.
