She is one of the stars whose presence on the red carpet is highly anticipated annually.
Jessy Mendiola never fails to disappoint the onlookers and fashion critics with how she slayed the Star Magic Ball with the fabulous designer numbers and minimal makeup she wears, and of course, with her incredible panache.
As we look forward on her appearance in the upcoming staging of the grandiose affair, let’s revisit how Jessy stunned us with her elegance and style in the past years.
Charmingly demure aura
Looking preppy in her single-strapped white number, she and her date, former Kapamilya actor Martin del Rosario, appeared as if they were just attending a high school promenade during the kick-off of the star-studded gathering 11 years ago. She stuck to her charmingly demure aura when she attended in a gold and black gown in 2009.
As the first-ever teleserye she top-billed was about to air December on that year, Jessy celebrated this remarkable feat with her Sabel leading men Joseph Marco and AJ Perez by parading together on the fourth Star Magic Ball, sashaying in a heavily-embellished gray trumpet gown. Before the spectacular night ended, she and Joseph took home the Wild and Fit Award from one of the sponsors.
It was in 2011 when she seemingly declared her graduation from the teeny bopper stage as she rocked the red carpet in an elegant black satin frock crafted by Pepito Albert. It might appear conservative on the front with its Sabrina neckline and serpentina skirt, but its backless detail absolutely wowed the spectators. Adding boldness to her get-up, which earned her the Star Magic Breakout Style Award, was her chunky gold earrings, shell clutch, and red lips.
Classic and divine
Far from her seductive façade in the Precious Hearts Romances Paraiso, she looked very much classic and divine in her white Nat Manilag gown with silver encrusted bust and low neckline in the 2012 ball.
As Jessy was tapped to headline the Filipino adaptation of the 90’s Mexicanovela Maria Mercedes, she apparently to imbibe her character on her stint on the 7th Star Magic Ball. She showed up clad in a body-hugging black Francis Libiran number that flaunted her sexy curves and bared more of her skin through its low neckline and high slit, and topping it off with her wavy tress arranged on the side.
In 2014, she reportedly tripped and fell while climbing the steps going to the party hall. But she didn’t let this incident taint the wonderful evening as she stood and strolled very much confident in her Popo Go black ball gown, finishing her glam look in her neatly-combed bob cut and red lips.
After ditching the 2015 spectacle, her comeback in 2016 was very much anticipated by many. Aside from snagging the most coveted “Sexiest Woman” recognition, she also attended with her boyfriend Luis Manzano, who claimed that he had the most beautiful date that evening. Their effort to complement each other’s ensemble was impossible not to notice. Her simple backless slip dress courtesy of John Rufo, which she paired off with deep red clutch and red lips, completely matched the illustrious host’s black tux and eye-catching shiny red bowtie.
And last year, she and Luis bagged the Couple of the Night Award alongside Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, as they exuded class in their chosen numbers. Jessy donned a sequined black ball gown by Anthony Ramirez, while Luis picked a black Calvin Klein suit.
Will Jessy’s attire this year make it to the Best Dressed List again? Let’s all find out!
