It will be again a night full of stars on September 30 as some of brightest stars in the local entertainment scene assemble in one of the biggest and most fashionable events of the year – the Star Magic Ball. Apart from that, the annual centerpiece showbiz event has also been an avenue for the local and foreign fashion designers and beauty and style experts to showcase their very artistic and beautiful creations as donned by our favorite celebrities. Within a decade of its success, the Star Magic Ball didn’t forget to recognize the painstaking hardships of the men and women behind the fabulous looks of the artists as it annually hails the best dressed, the most glamorous, and the most stunning attendees. As we anticipate who would bag the special awards this year, let’s reminisce the previous recipients.
Anne Curtis really shone like her yellow satin tube dress on the premiere of the Star Magic Ball, which made her clinch the junior category of the Star Dust Awards, alongside veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez who won the senior category. The male category was won by Zanjoe Marudo and Mar Roxas.
Bea Alonzo and former talent Malaya Lewandowski shared the Female Fashion Icon awards with their simply splendid royal blue and white gowns respectively. Piolo Pascual and Rafael Rosell both won in the male category. Anne Curtis and Sam Milby received the Sparkling Couple Award.
The following year, the special accolades were expanded as more attendees were hailed as the best dressed. In exuding their natural sophistication and dazzle on the red carpet, Bea Alonzo was crowned as the Most Elegant, while Anne Curtis was the Most Glamorous. Aside from spreading kilig vibes, Zanjoe Marudo and Mariel Rodriguez were hailed as the Classic Chic Pair, while Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil were the Classic Chic Couple. Her confidence in sporting an edgy yet stylish look made the Pop-Rock Princess Yeng Constantino the Most Fashion Forward of the night. John Lloyd Cruz was awarded the Most Stylish Star Of The Night.
For the second time, It’s Showtime host Anne Curtis was crowned as the Most Glamorous as she went bold by putting on a Michael Cinco feathery frock. With her glittery black gown also tailored by the said Dubai-based designer, Bea Alonzo proved that she’s indeed the Most Stylish that night alongside her partner Zanjoe Marudo who looked more handsome in his Joey Samson suit. Phenomenal loveteam Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson notched the Best Dressed Award, while Shaina Magdayao and Jake Cuenca won the Fashionista Award. That year’s Most Fashion Forward was comedienne Kitkat who ‘effortlessly’ rocked the whole party in her ball gown and studded face. The Couple Of The Night Award was given to Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Sotto.
Among those who wore red that night, Maricar Reyes stood out with her simple yet splendid look in her red dress and hair neatly tied into a bun, making her the Star Magic Stylish Award alongside Diether Ocampo. Julia Montes received the Sweetheart Of The Night while Coco Martin was given Stand Out Star Award. Kim Chiu and Xian Lim received the Couple Of The Night Award.
The seventh edition of the Star Magic Ball was notable for its totally different format as the organizers staged a fashion show tribute to famed designer Michael Cinco. Though it was our dearest celebrities’ turn to be the spectators, they certainly kept pace with the magnificent pieces showcased on the runway. Ex-lovers and dancefloor hotties Gerald Anderson and Maja Salvador were named as the best dressed, while loveteam and rumored baes Kim Chiu and Xian Lim bagged the Moet and Chandon Fabulous Pair. The Couple Of The Night Award was given to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
Julia Barretto indeed deserved being named as the Best Dressed Female in her Rajo Laurel silver embellished gown, alongside Paulo Avelino. It was indeed Iza Calzado’s night as apart from being her crush’s date, her perfect tandem with Piolo Pascual made them the Moet and Chandon Fabulous Pair. The Couple Of The Night Award was given to John Lloyd Cruz and Angelica Panganiban.
From being the Breakout Style awardees in 2012, prodigious loveteam KathNiel took home the Best Dressed Couple recognition, as they graced the red carpet in their matching white numbers. The Michael Cinco long-sleeved, body-hugging white gown emblazoned with intricate cuts gave us the bold yet classy side of the Teen Queen we’re all delighted to behold. Kim Chiu and Xian Lim got the Couple Of The Night Award.
Amidst of all the shining stars that surrounded Liza Soberano that wonderful evening, her inexplicable beauty definitely stood out as it set the Internet on fire, leaving everyone so awestruck and doubts her mere mortal existence. Her classic look collaboratively worked on by stylist Perry Tabora, makeup artist Mickey Sese, and hairstylist Brent Sales, indeed suited with her exquisite Michael Cinco gown – the formulae that crowned her the Best Dressed Female last year. The male category was dominated by Zanjoe Marudo who looked squeaky clean in his finely fixed hair and velvet tux. Diego Loyzaga and Sofia Andres were given the Couple Of The Night Award.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach surprised everyone with a classic bob cut hairstyle, perfectly matched with a long-sleeved, off shoulder black gown, laced and glittering all over.
