With his unmistakable charisma, formidable talent, and relentless passion, it’s unquestionable how Piolo Pascual remains as one of the most prominent and in-demand leading men in the local entertainment industry after 25 years.
Since he is considered as one of the pioneers, biggest and most enduring stars of the Kapamilya Network, his appearances on the annual Star Magic Ball bring excitement both to his fans and the ardent followers of the star-studded affair.
Dash of coolness
His long ‘do gave a dash of coolness in the traditional black Hugo Boss outfit he wore in 2007. He didn’t only simply paraded on the red carpet and mingled with his colleagues and the bosses on that memorable evening, but he was also one of those artists tapped to serenade everyone and to host the program alongside Diether Ocampo, John Lloyd Cruz, Sam Milby, and Pokwang.
Trading the lackluster necktie to a grey bowtie and brushing his hair up seemed to bring him luck as he was one of the awardees of the Fashion Icon recognition. Other recipients were Bea Alonzo, Rafael Rosell, and former actress and beauty queen Malaya Lewandowski.
From being dateless in first two stagings of the ball, Piolo finally walk down the red carpet with a muse for three consecutive years, through his Lovers in Paris leading lady and ex-girlfriend KC Concepcion.
Their undeniable chemistry on their first appearance together in 2009 earned them the Couple of the Night Award. At the same time, he was once again chosen to preside the event, alongside Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.
Strutting in an old-school Hugo Boss tuxedo with bright red pocket square, he took home the Star Magic Icon Award the following year.
In 2011, he was among the gentlemen to veer away from the usual black formal wear as he opted for a white-on-white ensemble that pleasantly complemented the fabulous beaded cream gown of his lady love. Thus, it was not surprising anymore when they were named as the Star Magic Male and Female Fashionista of the Night.
The Ultimate Heartthrob went back to classic black tux the following year on the 20th anniversary celebration of Star Magic and the sixth edition of the ball, when he was once again appointed to become one of the emcees. He was joined by John Lapus and John Lloyd Cruz.
Donned in a Neil Barrett suit, Piolo was tapped, together with Gretchen Barretto, to bestow the plaque of recognition to Michael Cinco for his invaluable contribution in the fashion industry during the 7th Star Magic Ball, when the ballroom was transformed into a runway for the illustrious designer’s collections.
He indeed looked dashing in his signature Hugo Boss suit and sleek long hair as he escorted his Hawak Kamay leading lady Iza Calzado, to whom he shared the Moet and Chandon Fabulous Pair of the Night in 2014.
In 2015, he attended the gathering in classic tailored pieces from Dior and casually paraded with his son Iñigo, who was then wearing a Francis Libiran suit.
All by himself
Unlike his unico hijo who went with different partners in the last two years, the 41-year-old actor has been strolling the red carpet all by himself.
In 2016, he was spotted sporting an Ivarluski Aseron creation, which was comprised of black-lapelled white coat, black bowtie, and black trousers.
And last year, he deviated from the typical black and white formalwear as he dressed up in bold blue tuxedo specially tailored for him by Jerome Lorico. This move seemed to be perfect since he was tasked to lead the handing over of one million pesos worth of donations of Star Magic to Bantay Bata, in celebration of the organization’s 20th anniversary, and the offering of the toast and a plaque for Star Creatives Chief Operating Officer Malou Santos for his unparalleled contribution and dedication to the network through the years.
As this year’s ball comes closer, we’re looking forward to see how Piolo would rock the red carpet.
