Phenomenal star Maymay Entrata has definitely come a long way after her Big Winner finish in Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 last year. From being a simple barrio lass who used to participate in the modelling competitions at their school prior to her triumphant stint in the reality television program, she’s now achieved a top model status as she finally had her international catwalk debut.
Opening the show of Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne One’s label Amato Couture during the Arab Fashion Week held last November 21 at the Dubai Design District, she wowed spectators as she gracefully stepped the staircase and paraded in a light gray body-hugging, appliqued midi dress with oversized feathery sleeves and a lace headdress.
For the second part of the show, the 21-year-old actress was an epitome of sophistication and ferocity as she sashayed in a floor-sweeping, ruffled gray ball gown with an intricately-designed bodice and headpiece, which is also included in the pre-fall and anniversary collection of the fashion house.
The jaw-dropping show that cast seasoned international models as well, concluded with her and Furne One walking down the catwalk hand-in-hand and showing the world the formidable talent and unmistakable beauty of Filipinos.
Also present in the event to show their all-out support to the first-ever Pinay to participate in the Arab Fashion Week were her on-screen partner Edward Barber, to whom she shared a lovely red carpet moment with, her close friend and Edward’s older sister Laura, and Dubai-based celebrity press relations officer Josh Yugen.
Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent agency that handles MayWard, shared on Instagram a few snaps and clips of Maymay’s glorious moments from the rehearsals up to the show proper, as shown in the gallery above and within this article.
In his interview with the Dubai newspaper Gulf News, the renowned designer to the stars and royalties, whose line of clients include Katy Perry, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, and Nicki Minaj, pointed out that the reason why he picked her to spearhead the showcasing of his collection is her “authentic personality”.
“Her being real and being different is what I like about her. Before [models were] stereotyped as tall, blue-eyed, blonde. But now, it’s more on diversity, it’s more on being different, it’s about the character,” he disclosed.
This might be her debut on the international catwalk, but it was not Maymay’s first time to collaborate with Furne One as they first worked together on his 25th anniversary celebration in Manila early this year.
It can be recalled that more than a week ago, the PBB alumna received an invitation from the prized Pinoy couturier to attend the casting call for the prestigious fashion show.
The popular teen loveteam is also in Dubai to provide entertainment to their Filipino fans on November 23 at the Global Village, entitled TAG: Live with MayWard.
