MarNigo is everything we want in a love team. Their chemistry on-and-off cam makes us all feel kilig and intensifies our desire that they would end up together.
They might have been poles apart before they soared to stardom – Maris Racal finished her sojourn in Pinoy Big Brother: All In as the Second Big Placer while Iñigo Pascual continues to make his own mark out of his father’s shadow – but it seems destiny had their paths intertwined. And now, they are set to conquer the local entertainment scene.
Here are five reasons why their pairing is awesome.
Their first meeting was epic
It all started with Piolo Pascual’s astonishment with Maris during his special guesting in the PBB house in 2014 and jested to the teen housemate-then to wait for his unico hijo who was staying in the United States that time. It was succeeded afterwards by Iñigo’s first tweet to her saying “Hi, I’m Inigo. This is an awkward way to say ‘hi’ but ‘hello’”, which gave birth to the tandem MarNigo.
Their first meeting was in the set of the now-defunct primetime series Hawak Kamay that Papa P topbilled and Maris’ first-ever teleserye after PBB. Chatting with Vice Ganda on Gandang Gabi Vice, they relayed that gawkiness veiled that time as they both hid in different rooms because of the discomfort they felt and the people around were teasing them as well.
At the end of the day, they were left in a corner and were able to meet personally. So highschool-y!
Their sweetness make us melt
From then, the two seem to become affixed with each other’s names and often got involved in the same projects. They touched our hearts in their impressive performance in the “Love Team” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya and made us giddy with their performances together on and off the stage.
Aside from that, they sometimes treated their avid fans with their cute exchanges in social media, not to mention the viral #100TweetsParaKayMarieStella of Inigo which set the internet abuzz last month. This effort, appended by his surprise proposal on ASAP helped him get Maris’ acceptance to be his date to the Star Magic Ball.
Their cute term of endearment
With or without label, special nicknames seem to become a thing nowadays between ladies and gents who are in a ‘more-than-friends-less-than-lovers’ status – and MarNigo is one of them. If KathNiel has “Bal” and JoshLia has “Baba”, theirs is Papa Pe and Mama Me.
In one of their ASAP Chillout appearances, the younger Pascual divulged that their term of endearment was formed after the young actress called him “Papa Pe” (derived from his dad’s alias) while they’re hanging out in the set of Bloody Crayons, which Maris topbilled.
They are both multitalented
In this industry where competition is really tough, talent matters. With this, MarNigo will surely thrive because they can sing, dance, and act, one of the many reasons their followers are loving them wildly. Watching their collaborations make us all swoon and yearn for more!
Their families ship them too!
Even before they met, Iñigo’s hunky dad has been a fan of theirs and even wished that they would be in love for real. On the other hand, Maris’ doting sisters are supportive of them as well and even teased her during their first meeting three years ago.
But when asked with the perennial question regarding the real score between them, the two implied that despite liking one another to be their future lovers, they don’t want to rush things and just enjoy their genuine friendship.
Take it to Iñigo who told King of Talk Boy Abunda in TWBA, “Love is something that is not to be rushed; it’s something that just happens when it happens.”
We’re looking forward on seeing more of MarNigo in future Kapamilya projects!
