Aside from the Kapamilya artists and executives, several of the country’s beauty queens also graced the annual lavish event. These title holders proved that they’re indeed worthy of their beauty crowns as they elegantly walked the red carpet in their stunning, glamorous outfits. Here are some of them:
Formerly known under the screen name Pia Romero, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach began her career as a Star Magic talent at the age of 14. She starred in several television shows such as Bora: Sons of the Beach, It Might Be You, and Maalaala Mo Kaya prior to her pageant stints and Miss Universe triumph in 2015.
She confidently strutted along the red carpet in 2010 and then regularly attended in the ball from 2012 to 2015. It seemed that we already had a hint that she would win the crown as she became a Best Dressed for a number of fashion blogs and websites with her Bessie Bessana off-shoulder champagne creation.
Before winning the first-ever Miss World crown for the country, Megan Young regularly attended the event since its launch in 2007, which was also the year she became a Star Magic artist. She appeared in various TV programs such as Kokey and I Love Betty La Fea and top-billed the afternoon soap opera Hiyas opposite Zanjoe Marudo.
Her last attendance was in 2014, in which she stunned everyone with her heavily embellished Leo Almodal white masterpiece.
Bea Rose Santiago
After being hailed as the 2013 Miss International, Bea Rose Santiago got another important role, which was hosting the eighth Star Magic Ball. She really shone that night with her glittery and appliqued off-shoulder black number. She first attended in 2013, months before she flew to Japan for the competition. She also appeared in the primetime series A Love To Last as herself to whom Bea Alonzo’s character once got jealous with.
The Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up gave us a peek of her “Miss Universe walk” as she came to the Star Magic Ball months before the contest in her elegant sequined white gown. Arielle Arida opted to wear a classic black gown in her second appearance in the Ball in 2014.
Her beautiful face, captivating smile, and innate grace are enough for the beauty queen-turned-host to capture everyone’s attention. Dressed in Joel Asebuche’s classic white gown with minimal makeup and accessories, Venus Raj really did rock the ninth Star Magic Ball. She placed fourth runner-up in the 2010 Miss Universe.
Not only Filipina pageant titlists participated in the star-studded event, but also this Brazilian beauty queen and Miss Earth 2004, who was spotted thrice. Priscilla Meirelles attended in the third and fifth editions as seasoned actor-host John Estrada’s gorgeous muse. She wowed us with her flair in acting in her portrayal as the rich woman Prianka Aguas, who adopted Maja Salvador’s character when she was still younger, in the controversial primetime series Wildflower.
The Miss Philippines Universe 2009 was apparently a fan of barely-there pieces as seen in the gowns she wore in her previous appearances in the Star Magic Ball. After her pageant gigs, Bianca Manalo ventured into acting and hosting in the Kapamilya network which gave her strings of projects, such as Aryana, On the Wings of Love, My Super D, and her notable title role Juanita Banana.
Are we going to catch a glittering array of beauty royalty once more in this year’s staging of the Star Magic Ball? Let’s find out on September 30 at the Makati Shangri-La!
