From walking on fashion runways and gracing magazine covers, Zanjoe Marudo entered show business as one of the most favorite, attention-grabbing housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 1 in 2006. As such, it wasn’t a surprise when he was hailed as the Fourth Big Placer and skyrocketed to being one of the country’s sought-after and bankable leading men.
Since he is among the finest stars of ABS-CBN, his Star Magic Ball stints have been highly anticipated ever since its inception in 2007. Although he’s been wearing the classic suit and tie every year, he is still able to catch everyone’s attention and even bag special recognitions before the evening ends!
Being one of the first attendees of the star-studded gathering, he immediately turned heads as he deviated from the typical formal wear by putting on a coat instead of a blazer and topping his look with a spiky ‘do like his character in Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis, Super Islaw.
On the second staging, his all-black ensemble earned him the Male Junior Stardust Award opposite Anne Curtis. Their senior counterparts were power couple former Senator Mar Roxas and veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez.
Zanjoe might have appeared as if he just came out of bed with his disheveled hair, but his all-black outfit absolutely matched the champagne gown of his ex-flame and ball date that year, Mariel Rodriguez. Thus, they took home the Classic Chic Couple of the Night in 2009.
Clad in another all-black suit, he came to the formal affair with his “friend” Bea Alonzo with whom he also shared the Most Stylish Award in 2010. They had since gone to the ball together for a number of years and became one of the loveliest and exciting couples to parade the red carpet.
It was only in the fifth Star Magic Ball when he remarkably made changes in his overall look. He traded his squeaky clean look to rugged as he grew stubble, then replaced the necktie with a bowtie. He also departed from all-black outfits to wearing pieces in different hues, such as silver and white, to complement his then girlfriend Bea’s studded gown.
And their coordinated attire indeed worked as they bagged the Moet & Chandon Award, the prize bestowed to the most fashionable couple that evening.
Months after showing off his well-toned bod as the lead character Silang in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Hiyas, he looked entirely different during the 2012 edition as he was clothed in a dapper suit.
They continued to walk down the red carpet from 2013 to 2015, with Zanjoe making an effort to match the gowns donned by Bea through wearing the classic tux.
Despite attending the ball solo in the past two years, he still radiated a certain glow and handsomeness that totally captivated everyone. That’s why it was unquestionable when he won the Best Dressed Male Award in 2016 when he opted for a Lanvin suit.
Meanwhile, he strutted in a classic Gucci tux last year.
Certainly, we’re all excited to see how the Playhouse actor will rock this year’s edition of the lavish ball!
