Spotlight on Julia Montes

Lola Flory assumed the role of head of the family and main caregiver, raising Julia and her 2 other siblings. To do this, she maintained a small salon in Pandacan, Manila. She was also the one who attended school activities. Soon, the children grew which meant more expenses and the family struggled to make ends meet.

At the age of 5, Julia began attending auditions and go-sees. She recalls the struggles she and Lola Flory went through: commuting to castings, hurrying from school to shoots and missing a lot of family time in the process. This is why it pains her to hear negative remarks from some people in those early years who say that she doesn't belong in the entertainment industry. Julia said she competed with no one and was just in showbiz out of need.
