After being introduced to their avid viewers, the newest additions to the bigger and quirkier The Squad Plus recently amused us with their unmistakable charms and impressive hosting and acting skills as they’re able to successfully prank ABS-CBN TV Production and Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi in their latest vlog uploaded last January 18.
Joining the foursome of Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin are the freshest breeds of Star Magic talents, Alyana Angeles, Renshi de Guzman, Sam Cruz, KD Estrada, Margaux Montana, Jimuel Pacquiao, Nio Tria, Anji Salvacion, Raven Rigor, Angelica Lao, Lance Carr, and Danica Ontengco.
Just when Direk Lauren thought that it was going to be a simple and usual Q & A, he didn’t have any inkling that the 12 young artists were already pranking him by asking random, controversial questions.
The episode commenced with them messing up with the intro, so they have to repeat it twice. Direk Lauren then went on to impart words of wisdom to them, which they could use as guide in their journey to the local entertainment scene.
“Working as a team doesn’t mean you will lose your own personalities. You need to grow individually, importante ‘yon. You need to know your strengths and your weaknesses, and you become – ang gusto ko sa The Gold Squad Plus na ‘to – support system. Kasi para sa mga baguhan, mahirap ‘yong you’re swimming on your own, you fight on your own. Ito, you’re a barkada, a family, you’re siblings in show business. Take that opportunity,” he told them.
Direk Lauren also went on to remind them about the two most important qualities they should always keep in their minds and hearts at all times – being respectful to everyone including their audiences and having sense of gratitude and gratefulness.
Sam opened the Q & A by consulting him if she should change her stage name as she finds it really common. Nio followed by asking if it’s possible for him to be like Coco Martin, while Lance tried to catch Direk Lauren as he quizzed him if he’s indeed “Kuya”.
When it was their turn, Anji asked Direk Lauren if it’s okay for her to undergo cosmetic surgery to ease her insecurities and if she’s indeed the rightful winner of Idol Philippines Season 1, while KD asked if they would allow them to take on mature and racy roles.
Danica, on the other hand, asked their manager if he finds her fat. Jimuel then interjected if it’s possible for them to talk to “Kuya” after Direk Lauren refused to confirm whether he’s the voice behind him or not. It was also the young Pacquiao who broke to him that it’s just a prank.
Their questions may have shocked him, but the gregarious and brilliant TV executive answered each of them with utmost candor and wit. Click on this video to see The Squad Plus’ fun and insightful conversation with Direk Lauren and his reactions!
