Many times in her life, Fina (Jodi Sta. Maria) was looked down on by others due to her lack of education. For one, the custodial rights to her son, Noah (Ziljian Drake Ventenilla) was once given to her mother-in-law. Fina’s lack of financial capabilities to support her kid was one of the reasons for her loss that time.
The scene opens with Fina receiving praises from her teacher due to another perfect score in an exam. Fina and her teacher share a heart-rending conversation about her determination to finish her studies despite the financial struggles and other trials.
Fina finally graduates from high school. As the student with highest honors, she comes up on stage to deliver a short speech. She talks about the challenges she and her family faced. She narrates the story of her life starting off from her father’s passing until her mom’s unfortunate imprisonment. Since then, Fina had to transfer from one job to another to make both ends meet. She grew up independently and this made her realize that lack of proper education is a hindrance in fighting for one’s rights.
After her talk, the scene cuts to Fina and Noah having their mini celebration in a sidewalk eatery. Fina promises Noah a brighter future now that she is bound to have a better-paying job after her graduation. More so, she reminds Noah of filling in his life with prayers; and that one day, Joy (Iyannah Joyce Sumalpong) will be back to make their family whole again.
