Previously, Matilda (Ayen Munji-Laurel) asked for Juris’ (Bela Padilla) help in looking for another child who would surface as Joy. This way, they’d manage to completely drive Fina (Jodi Sta. Maria) out of their lives, saving Drei’s (Tony Labrusca) Senatorial bid and Juris’ family as a result. They bribed a woman named Zoila to turn over her adopted child to Fina’s care and they manipulated the DNA Test Results as well.
Zoila and her partner Felix received monetary bribe for their cooperation. They are also asked to leave their previous abode and to refrain from communicating with Fina again. They chance upon several photos of Joy aka Christie’s (Precious Miel Espinosa) baptism and begin coming up with theories about the Montelibanos’ presence in the said event.
Zoila has long been assuming that their pretension is orchestrated by a powerful personality. She, then, assumes that the Montelibanos are the brains behind the act. Out of greediness, Zoila and Felix plan on demanding for more bribes from the Montelibanos in exchange of keeping mum about their secret.
In this scene, Matilda supervises Drei, Juris, and Leyna (Iyannah Joyce Sumalpong) in their annual photoshoot. Suddenly, Zoila arrives and insists a quick meeting with Matilda. The Montelibanos exchange looks of worry and surprise while Zoila is getting dragged out of the office.
Matilda, then, decides to come out and face Zoila. She tries to act as pleasant and calm as possible but hints of irk are seen in her face while listening to Zoila rant about the financial support she’s given Joy. To cut the conversation short, Matilda hands Zoila a piece of check in a frigid attitude.
Meanwhile, Matilda asks for Juris’ final decision regarding the rape case filed against a Senator’s son. Matilda persuades Juris to use her brains by not tainting the politician’s reputation. However, Juris remains firm in her decision to stand by her client, a fourteen-year-old girl repeatedly sexually abused by the son of Matilda’s colleague. Juris boldly says she won’t fool herself by choosing the evil side.
Outraged by the hypocrisy, Matilda reminds Juris that she’s been fooling herself all this time, referring to her continues efforts of hiding the truth from Fina.
