Ever since Martin Co, portrayed by seasoned actor Richard Yap, appeared on Sana Dalawa Ang Puso for the first time, he always left us smitten. Throughout the seven-month run of the daytime teleserye, we were not only enthralled by the stories of the two main characters, Mona and Lisa (both by Jodi Sta. Maria), unfolded, but by his journey as well.
As the series approaches its exciting end, let’s take a look back on his many enthralling traits that made us identify with him and turned him into a remarkable character that we would never forget.
A dutiful son
One of the first things we discovered about the debonair gentleman was how submissive he was to his dad Miguel (Boboy Garovillo). He showed it by heeding to the agreement of being betrothed to their business rival’s daughter Lisa Laureano and by obeying his furtive schemes even though it took a toll on his relationship with Mona.
A loving father figure
Martin took the “responsibility” of being a father figure to Patrick (Markus Paterson), who is the son of his ex-flame Rachel (Aliya Parcs). Despite not being Patrick’s real dad and having busy schedules, Martin made sure to allot time and extend his love for him. He attends to his needs, especially the time when he came to Patrick’s rescue when Patrick was called to the Principal’s Office over a bullying incident.
An amiable boss
Superiors are often regarded as intimidating, but he is definitely an exception. Martin gets along well with his subordinates, particularly to his most trusted assistant-slash-driver-slash-friend Oyo (Bayani Agbayani). He is rational, lenient, approachable, and down-to-earth—indeed, anyone’s dream boss.
A reliable friend
Although his relationship with Lisa didn’t flourish romantically and everything was initially rough for him and Leo (Robin Padilla), not to mention how Lisa and Leo’s marriage hurt him, Martin turned out to be a dependable friend for both of them. He has been Lisa’s one of go-to persons every time she’s in trouble with her husband, especially that time when he was secretively fulfilling his secret mission under Dagitab. On the other hand, he and Leo remarkably have been comrades in pursuit of protecting the love of their lives.
A perseverant lover
Just when Lisa thought Martin only meant business when he initially agreed to marry her, she was wrong the whole time because he actually loved her. And while she kept on refusing his advances and giving him the cold shoulder, it just made him more obstinate to win her. However, all his efforts were put to waste in the end when she tied the knot with Leo.
He did the same to his newfound love Mona, to whom he has a love-hate relationship. At first, Mona tried her best to win his love and attention, but everything had changed when he eventually fell in love with her and he was now the one chasing and pursuing her just to earn her affection again.
Will Martin finally attain the love he deserves in the end after all the struggles he had to go through? Find out by watching the remaining episodes of Sana Dalawa ang Puso, weekdays before It’s Showtime.
