Unexpected. Life-changing. Unconventional.
If there are three words to describe the whirlwind romance of Pusong Ligaw lead actress Beauty Gonzalez and her husband Norman Crisologo, it would be these. Their affair was initially met with controversy, basically because of the huge 20-year gap between them. But they chose to shut the noises off and proved the world that their love is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things that the world has ever seen.
It was unexpected, as their love story started out when Norman saw her on the cover of a men’s magazine. Mesmerized by her splendor, he immediately contacted his friends in showbiz to ask for her number and obtained it from their mutual friend Ellen Adarna. He asked her on a date through a lengthy text message, which she instantly declined since she assumed that he was a condominium salesman.
Despite her initial rejection, Beauty revealed in another interview that Norman was so persistent then as he called her and invited her to attend a magazine event, which she accepted this time. Even though she felt intimidated and nervous at first seeing the guests and meeting his friends, those immediately vanished when he held her hand and Eraserheads performed their hit track “Magasin.” It was too serendipitous for her, so she wasn’t able to stop herself from hugging him.
Things happened to them so fast, with Norman introducing her to his mother and kids, and with her following him in his work trip to Paris, France and sticking by him since then. Things went well in their family and the couple had a blissful wedding in May 2017, which was held in Tagaytay City. The ceremony took place two month after Norman proposed to her and a year after welcoming their daughter Olivia Ines.
Apart from being her lucky charm, the seasoned actress also considered her art curator-hubby as the person who changed her life totally, including the way she thinks and perceives things and the way she carries herself. Juggling her duties as an actress and a homemaker is indeed tough, but she revealed that Norman makes it easier for her as he doesn’t pressure her to be a mom and a wife. Thus, she regards her as “the best husband talaga”.
They may have come from different walks of life and work in different fields, but they’re able to find common denominators, which include collecting art and travelling to various places here and abroad. In her Tonight With Boy Abunda interview in 2019, she imparted that it’s him who encouraged her to go back to making art again, such as paintings and collages, which she used to do when was still young.
With everything that they went through, it’s indeed amazing how they are able to fight and conquer all the hurdles in their marriage hand-in-hand. Now, they have been married for more than six years and are proud parents to their unica hija Olivia.
