‘Pinoy Big Brother’ Journey: Tanner Mata

Last Sunday night, Tanner Mata, the “Incredible Hunk ng Nueva Ecija”, was also announced as one of Kuya’s Lucky 7 Dream Team housemates who will have the chance to become this season’s Ultimate Big Winner this weekend. He proved that he’s definitely more than just a pretty face, he has what it takes to become a Big Winner as well. Today, let us look back at some of the highlights of his “Pinoy Big Brother” journey.

Tanner, 21 years old, entered the “Pinoy Big Brother” house last October 29, 2016 with the other regular housemates. He is a half-Filipino and half-American ramp and commercial model. He was born and raised in Colorado, where he studied in a vocational program for automotive in high school and worked as a real estate agent. When his parents separated, he became closer to his identical twin brother Tyler. He and his twin eventually ventured into modeling.

Inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” house, Tanner had several kilig moments with celebrity housemate Yassi Pressman. He immediately was attracted to Yassi’s beauty when she went back inside the house. She was dressed up as a mermaid and she needed a prince to save her. Luckily, it was Tanner who was chosen to become her prince and he rescued her after they completed a task.

Tanner and Ali Forbes were the task leaders of their parol-making task. They had to look for plastic water bottles by collecting trash and riding a garbage truck, as well as going to a dump site in Payatas. Since they succeeded in their special task, Tanner was able to reunite with his twin brother Tyler. He shared that he hasn’t seen his brother in person for a very long time already because of work. As a reward, his twin brother was able to spend few weeks inside the house like a regular housemate and the twins bonded and got to know each other even more.

Tanner and the other housemates participated in the Dream House challenge. In the first round of the challenge, he won alongside teen housemate Maymay Entrata and regular housemates Jerome Alacre and Cora Wadell. In the second round, despite not receiving any help from a single housemate, he still emerged victorious with Jerome. In the final round, he was able to beat Jerome in house-stacking challenge and he received the Camella House and Lot worth 2 million pesos.

Tanner became the first Lucky House after winning the three-part Big Jump Challenge. He was able to beat two other housemates, Aura Azarcon and Wil Dasovich. Tanner and Aura got 50 points each after three challenges and they had to face off in a tie-breaker round. He finished the puzzle task in 36 minutes and 10 seconds while Aura took 1 hour 31 minutes and 55 seconds.

Will Tanner be this season’s Ultimate Big Winner?
