In its 14 years on television, there’s no doubt that Pinoy Big Brother is indeed the biggest and most successful reality program in the country. Through the years, it has provided hope to millions of our kababayans from different walks of life here in the Philippines and abroad that their lives would change by trying their luck and taking part in it.
Most of the aspirants yearn to join the competition, basically, in pursuit of giving their families a brighter future with the whopping prizes they could win, and the chance to make it in the glittering world of show business, among other opportunities.
However, not all hopefuls came for the monetary prize for there were some who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. They still aspired to join the show not to primarily help their families, but for the formidable experience it promises or for the fulfillment of their other personal endeavors, such as the alumni and current housemates we included in this feature.
Despite coming from different seasons and locations, former housemates Say Alonzo, JB Magsaysay, Beauty Gonzalez, Kian Kazemi, Paul Jake Castillo, Mark Luz, Manolo Pedrosa, Richard Juan, Kisses Delavin, and Josh Worsley, and PBB Otso Batch 4 adult housemate Gino Roque share a common denominator – their families, particularly their parents, run a variety of enterprises.
Meanwhile, some of them have parents or immediate relatives who are involved in the fields of showbiz, athletics, and politics, like Bodie Cruz (son of top-caliber actor Tirso Cruz III), Tin Patrimonio (daughter of veteran PBA player Alvin Patrimonio), and Jovic Susim (son of a politician in Albay).
They might come from affluent clans or live comfortable lives, these housemates prove that there’s more to them than their socio-economic status. They presented to the world what they’ve got and showed us that they, too, could cope in the simple and competitive life inside the house and adjust to the varying personalities of their housemates.
