His character Rafa Advincula in Huwag Kang Mangamba may have an incomplete family due to the tragic death of his parents and a complicated relationship with his brother and grandfather, but young actor Kyle Echarri actually has an admirable bond with his family in real life.
While he’s the youngest scion in the series, Kyle is the middle child in their family of five. He has two siblings – his Kuya Anthony and their youngest and only girl Isabella – to whom he both has a close relationship with, as seen in the photos posted on their respective Instagram accounts and their stint in the ABS-CBN celebrity talent show The Kids’ Choice in 2018.
Thus, we can say that their parents, Daddy Joe and Mommy Marie, are both doing a great job in raising them. During the online press conference for iWantTFC’s “Bawal Lumabas: The Series” in December 2020, he revealed that unlike other people his age, he doesn’t have strict parents.
“Ang na-realize ko lang sa mga kagaya ko na teenagers, most of the people that do bad stuff are kids na istrikto ang parents. My parents have never been strict. Alam po kasi nila na kung strict sila ay gagawin ko po ‘yong ipinagbabawal nila,” he said. “So, they tell me, ‘alam mo kung ano ang ginagawa mo. Make sure you’re doing it right’.”
Because of the tight bond he has with his family, Kyle couldn’t help but be distressed when the pandemic hit the country last year since his family was in Cebu, while he was in Manila due to his showbiz commitments.
“I think the hardest thing that happened to me was the first announcement [of] lockdown [because] I was like going through a lot. I was going through a lot because alam ko po na magla-lockdown pero hindi ko po alam kung gaano katagal,” he related in that same interview. According to Kyle, he persistently did everything to go to Cebu prior to the lockdown and had the chance to spend the entire community quarantine with his family.
However, aside from his parents not being strict to him, what actually ignited his being a “family person” was when his mother got diagnosed with lupus when he was just only 10 years old. In his Magandang Buhay guesting last month, he recalled how scared he was upon hearing the news. Fortunately, she’s able to get through it and continue to live happily with them.
And recently, we’re able to witness his closeness with his Kuya Anthony and Mommy Marie when they joined the “Madlang Pi-Poll” segment of It’s Showtime, a few days after he got evicted from the Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10.
