There’s definitely no doubt that Elisse Joson is one of the most beautiful faces in the country. However, she’s able to prove that she is indeed more than just a pretty face as she can also slay when it comes to acting. And she’s able to show that through her teleserye portrayals in the past decade that she has been under the limelight.
And while her transformation to becoming an antagonist in the controversial drama Dirty Linen continues to astonish us, wait ‘til you see her take on another interesting character in the highly anticipated series Pira-Pirasong Paraiso. But before that, let’s revisit first some of her previous acting gigs on TV that truly elevated her to becoming a sought-after actress in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!
While many of us probably know her as a Pinoy Big Brother alumna, she actually has been appearing in various programs prior to that stint. Her first acting projects include Wansapanataym and Maalaala Mo Kaya, as well as in the highly successful daytime drama Be Careful With My Heart (2012-2014), wherein she played supporting character Chesca.
After that, she was cast in the James Reid and Nadine Lustre-starrer Wansapantaym Presents My App Boyfie as the bratty Shannon, then as the straightforward friend of Sofia Andres’ character Kate in the well-loved romance-drama series Forevermore, headlined by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. It was also on that same year when she played the obnoxious Erica in Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.
Elisse went on to portray minor roles in the next projects she did in 2015, which included the teen-oriented sitcom Luv U, two episodes of MMK, her Ipaglaban Mo debut, the Wansapanataym narrative “Fat Patty”, and the primetime family series You’re My Home, playing the character of Alexis Madrigal.
She then joined the PBB Lucky Season 7 in 2016 as one of its celebrity housemates, wherein she was dubbed as the “Hugot Babe of Mandaluyong City,” with reference to the fast-food chain commercial that she did prior to entering showbiz. This was also where and when her team-up with her now-partner McCoy de Leon started to bloom.
Her stay in Bahay Ni Kuya might have been short-lived, but a slew of good projects came to her upon going back to the outside world. First in line was her brief stint in the long-running action series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Lorraine, the love interest of McCoy’s character JP Arevalo. They also got paired in the acclaimed 2017 family drama series The Good Son, wherein she portrayed the smart and talented cosplaying teenage girl named Sabina De Guzman.
The year 2018 was indeed a great one for her as she was able to work on not just one, but three programs, which required her to pull off different personas. She starred as the amusing “bida-kontrabida” Stella Ortiz in Wansapanataym Presents Ofishially Yours, which she topbilled along with BoybandPH. She then took on the role of literacy advocate named Aliana Flores in the Ipaglaban Mo episode “Ganti”.
Far from the roles she previously depicted, Elisse absolutely astounded us with her captivating portrayal of professional street skateboarder and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal in the “Skateboard” episode of MMK. After that, she endeared us as Roxanne Constantino-cum-Christina Mapendo, the antagonistic long-lost sister of Julia Barretto’s character Eva Mapendo in the primetime series Ngayon at Kailanman.
In 2019, she inspired a lot of young women, especially the plus-sized ones, with her depiction of Ancel in the “Painting” episode of MMK. She then became one of the lead actors in the afternoon soap opera Sandugo, portraying the role of Grace Policarpio, the love interest of Aljur Abrenica’s character Leo Baltazar. Later that year, she had the chance to work with seasoned heartthrob Richard Gutierrez in the “Hot Choco” episode of MMK, fascinating us as Shareena, a coffee shop barista who was head over heels his character Tito.
As she made her comeback to Kapamilya TV in 2022, Elisse once again impressed us with her dramatic chops in the “Pulseras” episode of MMK. She depicted letter sender Precious Joy Berongoy, who imparted her inspiring and relatable relationship with her beloved Auntie Marlita, portrayed by Irma Adlawan.
But it was her notable transformation and dramatic entrance to the continuously unfolding narrative of Dirty Linen that was much talked about, as she played the antagonist Sophie Madrigales, the manipulative and scheming ex-girlfriend of Zanjoe Marudo’s character Aidan.
Aside from these programs, she also lent her acting chops in several iWantTFC projects, such as “Ampalaya Chronicles” (2020), “Horoscope” (2021), and “The Goodbye Girl” (2022).
And now, we’re looking forward to see her portray Hilary Abiog, the envious and vibrant adoptive sister of Loisa Andalio’s character Baby, in Pira-Pirasong Paraiso, the first-ever ABS-CBN and TV5 teleserye collaboration.
