Pira-Pirasong Paraiso Veteran Stars

The groundbreaking teleserye “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso” has been full of surprises in many ways since its premiere on July 25, 2023. For one, it delighted viewers with unexpected guest appearances of some of the industry’s biggest names.

It’s no secret how the teleserye’s young stars have showcased their acting chops in the series, but combine their talent with the veterans they look up to and you get astounding scenes that will leave you gawking in amazement.

Friday 5 presents the seasoned thespians who lent their brilliance to the afternoon drama we all loved.

When the one and only Diamond Star Maricel Soriano appears in a teleserye, the length of screen time won’t really matter. Give her a short stint and she will give you the whole universe of acting, every ounce of her pure brilliance poured into every scene. That’s what she delivered as Amanda Barrameda, the Paraiso sisters’ wealthy grandmother.

Apart from the tear-jerking scenes, Maricel also gifted us with deliciously exciting confrontations with the show’s OG kontrabida, Jacinda (Snooky Serna). With Amanda in La Madrid Land, Jacinda found a worthy rival for a little while. One of our favorite wrath-filled conversations of them had Jacinda spitting out threats at Amanda, but the latter boldly clapped back with a sarcastic “Ha! Ha! Ha!” burning Jacinda’s signature “Clap! Clap! Clap!” dialogue.

In the story, Amanda was accompanied by her adopted daughter, Carlota, played by Nikki Valdez, who was in her element in drama-heavy scenes. We cried buckets with her reconciliation with the Paraiso sisters, and when she unleashed her bitterness towards her scheming boyfriend Raffy (Rafa Siguion-Reyna).

Rosanna Roces made a grand entrance in the series as Criselda. Nobody expected that she’d be the one to portray the notorious syndicate leader in the story, thus the internet exploded with imaginative theories about her connection to the Paraiso sisters.

A bigger plot twist followed Criselda’s introduction, as she’s revealed to have been keeping the Paraiso sisters’ father, Daniel, for decades. To take things up a notch, the show tapped Gardo Verzosa to portray Daniel’s character, as his masterful command of his craft guarantees to keep the drama-heavy scenes even more affecting.

Meanwhile, the younger Daniel was portrayed by Jao Mapa in flashback scenes that reveal the circumstances that led to the Paraiso family’s separation. The actor’s presence in the show was unexpected, although we’re not really surprised to see that he’s still got the charm and acting chops after all these years.

Don’t miss the “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso: Ang Huling Laro” finale episode this Saturday, January 27, at 3 pm, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
