Who doesn’t love redemption stories? Even the most wicked and vengeful person can have a change of heart as how Carlota (Nikki Valdez) realized that she was wrong for hating on her nieces Diana (Charlie Dizon) and Beth (Alexa Ilacad) in an attempt to take all their matriarch Amanda (Maricel Soriano)’s trust and wealth.
As she and the Paraiso sisters broke down into beautiful tears in their heartwarming scene of forgiveness, she taught viewers the importance of repentance in healing and setting the heart free. This, if anything, only made them stronger as a family.
Be inspired by her evil-to-good transformation shown in this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from Pira-Pirasong Paraiso.
Carlota entered the show alongside Amanda, the Paraiso sisters’ grandmother. But instead of rejoicing over their reunion, she felt embittered to the point of trying to plant seeds of doubt and anger in Amanda’s heart as well. In many scenes, she told her to just let the sisters be, as they’re mature individuals capable of making their own decisions. She tried to convince Amanda, her adoptive mother, to go back to the States and leave Diana and Beth on their own.
She also warned her about Baby (Loisa Andalio), whom Amanda was noticeably fond of, saying that Baby’s criminal record should be enough reason to be suspicious. But none of her dirty tactics worked on Amanda, who was determined to make it up to her granddaughters and help them find the missing Amy despite Diana’s unhealed bitterness.
All hell broke loose among the Paraisos after Amanda’s murder. Carlota first denounced Baby as the killer due to her presence at the crime scene. She then implied that Diana and Beth caused all the series of misfortune as if they’re bad luck that plagued Amanda’s life
Just imagine the surge of anger when she found out that Amanda revised her last will in her granddaughters’ favor. Her lawyer and secret lover Raffy (Rafa Siguion-Reyna) whispering evil thoughts just birthed a feistier and more ambitious Carlota, who even met up with the villains Jacinda (Snooky Serna), Hilary (Elisse Joson), and Badong (Epy Quizon) to hear their opinions about the Paraiso sisters. The only good thing she did was ignore their claims, saying that Amanda taught her not to trust a person right away, especially if that person has a bad reputation like Jacinda.
Diana suffered from the brunt of Carlota’s ire when she was accused of Amanda’s murder. Carlota stormed to the police station to punish her niece with extreme hair-pulling and slapping, and also threatened to send Beth behind bars should she be proven guilty as well.
We viewers despised Carlota so much until we learned that she was also just a victim of Raffy’s lies and manipulation. When Diana and Beth managed to reveal Raffy’s evil intentions with solid evidence, that was the only time Carlota came to her senses, that is, after she tried to send the sisters away.
Just as she was able to trigger our hate, Carlota also tapped into our sympathy when she humbly reconciled with her nieces. And even a deeply abhorred character like her, when given a chance to repent of her misdeeds, will earn forgiveness. Diana and Beth also promised to give her more than her share in Amanda’s last will to repay her love and sacrifices for their grandmother.
In another scene, she had a tearful exchange with Baby as well, apologizing for how she behaved when she was completely drawn to Raffy’s promise of love and companionship, which she somehow felt deprived of. Now with Diana and Beth beside her, Carlota will surely receive the love of a family she’s always wanted.
