One of the main characters of Pangako Sa'yo is regarded as the epitome of strength, perseverance, and power—no other than Amor Powers (Jodi Sta. Maria) herself.
PSY started with the story of Amor, then a de Jesus, who was a nursing student and used to be a scholar of Buena Mines, a mining company owned by the affluent Buenavista family in Punta Verde. She dreams of becoming a chef and frequently sells food at the corporate office of her sponsor to generate additional income for her family. This was where she met Eduardo (Ian Veneracion), the oldest son of the Buenavistas, in a rather comedic elevator scene. This was how the Buenavista heir first saw Amor: awkward, scared, and a bit funny but at the same time, responsible and industrious.
The two continue to bump into each other and eventually, Eduardo recommends Amor to Chef Gina, the head chef in their restaurant, for a kitchen assistant position. This blossoms into a love story that starts the main arch of Pangako Sa 'Yo.
As a rich family, it is much to the dismay of Eduardo's family that he's in love with a poor girl. Doña Benita Buenavista (Pilar Pilapil) forces her son to marry Claudia (Angelica Panganiban), the illegitimate child of incumbent governor Enrique Zalameda for business purposes. Despite this, Eduardo assures Amor of his love and promises to love her until his last breath. 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
