Tall. Moreno. Chinito. Charismatic.

Possessing these physical features, it’s actually impossible not to be smitten by the charms of talented heartthrob Jeremiah Lisbo, who currently stars in the primetime drama series “Pamilya Sagrado” as John Kelvin Velasco, one of the members of the fictional elite fraternity Gamma Sigma Xi and a close friend of Kyle Echarri’s character, Moises.

And in the latest episode of “Tao Po,” ABS-CBN News reporter Job Manahan had the chance to catch up with him and get to know him through an exclusive interview right at their filming location in Baguio City.

Their conversation commenced with a “bag raid,” through which we’re able to find out Jeremiah’s top 5 taping essentials that he never forgets to include in his bag every time he goes to taping. These include a pack of cleansing wipes, a Swiss knife, a bottle of alcohol, his pair of toothbrush and toothpaste, and a pair of shades. He also noted that it’s important to always be mindful of the clothes and shoes that your character wears for the continuity of the scenes.

“First acting ko, sobrang nahirapan ako umarte kasi sobrang conscious ako sa sarili ko, sa looks ko, sa pag-deliver ko ng lines. Nag-acting workshop na ako no’n ah,” Jeremiah related about his first four years in showbiz. “Iba kasi ‘yong difference talaga kapag nasa mismong field ka na. Sobrang nakakapanibago. Pero ngayon naman, marami nang experiences, so medyo nakakasabay-sabay na tayo sa kanila.”

However, did you know that acting was actually not his first choice of career when he was still beginning in the entertainment industry? Jeremiah revealed that he actually received offers to become a fashion model in Malaysia and Singapore, which he both declined upon being bestowed with the role of Randall "RJ" Echavez in Seasons 1 and 2 of the teen romantic series “He’s Into Her” (2021-2022).

Besides, he was also struggling to juggle his burgeoning showbiz career with his studies, since he was a graduating Hotel and Restaurant Management student who had to accomplish his thesis and on-the-job training and, at the same time, attend his dancing and acting workshops. His time management skills may have been tested, not to mention that it was a very exhausting experience, yet he was very passionate about attaining the opportunity that was in front of him at the time.  

Just when he was already excited for his acting career to completely take off after graduating from college, he was met with frustration and pessimism when the pandemic struck and ABS-CBN was denied a new franchise. He admitted getting depressed during those times and having thoughts of working on a cruise ship or airline, but another blessing was bestowed upon him.

Aside from being supported by Star Magic all throughout, Jeremiah was also among the 13 young actors selected to be a part of the Rise Artist Studio. All his efforts, patience, and persistence eventually paid off when he got cast in “He’s Into Her” (2021-2022) and a slew of films in 2021, including “Love Is Color Blind,” in which he figured in a love triangle with Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan. And this year, he was chosen to take part in “Pamilya Sagrado.” 

Since he already tried doing drama, he wishes to become an action star someday, too, and hopes to be given the opportunity to work with veteran actor-turned-politician Richard Gomez, whom he believes has imprinted a unique influence among Filipinos over the decades.

Whenever he’s not in front of the camera, he can be seen working out, playing sports, or cooking dishes that he learned both from his courses in college and the tutorials that he watches on YouTube. He also dreams of building his own business in the future that is aligned with the bachelor’s degree that he finished, may it be establishing a café, a restaurant, or even a hotel of his own.

In the four years that he’s been in showbiz, Jeremiah said that he never regrets any decision that he made and promised to do better in every character that would be entrusted to him.

“Sa desisyong ginawa ko na ito, worth it naman kasi ito ‘yong mga tinanim ko rin e. Ito ‘yong mga naglabas ako ng effort, pera, pagmamahal, lahat-lahat na. Nagbunga naman,” he stated.
