It has already been two months since the last time we’ve seen the well-loved primetime teleserye Pamilya Ko on-air, thus, its avid viewers really couldn’t help but miss seeing the gregarious, inspiring, and tightly-bonded Mabunga Family.
And on Monday, May 18, they finally ended our yearning for them through their delightful reunion via the Online Kapamilya Shows offering Pamilya Kowentuhan, which was streamed on the official channel of ABS-CBN Entertainment on YouTube!
Despite being apart now that the whole nation is still in quarantine, the lead cast members of Pamilya Ko were still able to be together, thanks to video conferencing. The program commenced with them greeting the online viewers with “Mabungang araw, mga Ka-Fruit Salad!” and asking everyone “Kumusta?”.
Sylvia Sanchez, who plays the affectionate, steadfast, and dutiful matriarch Luz, started off by expressing how much she misses her beloved “Fruit Salad”, which is her collective term of endearment to her eight children in the drama. They are Chico (JM de Guzman), Beri (Kiko Estrada), Apol (Kid Yambao), Persi (Jairus Aquino), Peachy (Maris Racal), Lemon (Kira Balinger), Cherry (Mutya Orquia), and Pongky (Raikko Mateo) – and she said she wants to kiss and hug each one of them, including Joey Marquez, who plays as her loving husband Fernan. They also went on to exchange stories regarding the things that have been keeping them occupied nowadays in order to bust their boredom and be productive as well.
The video of Erik Santos soulfully singing the series’ official soundtrack titled “Home” was also shown as the program’s way of paying tribute to our selfless and valiant frontliners who are currently the ones primarily battling the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as we stay-at-home. This made some of them emotional, particularly Sylvia who, as we all know, got stricken by the virus.
Each of them also imparted their takeaways from the crisis and their personal one-word wishes and messages for everyone before ending the pilot episode. The music video of the Kapamilya network’s anthem for the current crisis, “Pag-ibig Ang Hihilom Sa Daigidig” was also shown, with the snippets of the cast singing its lyrics inserted in between. Viewers were given as well a teaser of the upcoming episode in the end.
While we’re still unsure when we are going to see them back on-air, you may hang out with the Mabunga Fam every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5pm by streaming Pamilya Kowentuhan on the official YouTube channel of ABS-CBN Entertainment and our newest digital “tambayan” Online Kapamilya Shows at OKS.abs-cbn.com!
