With eight lovely kids and decades of marriage, Fernan (Joey Marquez) and Luz (Sylvia Sanchez)’s relationship seemed fruitful over the years until the patriarch’s adulterous secret was revealed, giving us a glimpse of the Mabunga family’s rotten layers. There was Loida (Irma Adlawan), the mistress who spoiled Mr. and Mrs. Mabunga’s marriage, and we are putting her under scrutiny in this Toplist.
‘Desperate,’ cruel and horrible as it may sound, perfectly depicts Loida and her cunning efforts to keep her affair with a married man. Viewers of Pamilya Ko bit their nails in tension when Loida boldly showed up at the Mabunga residence and offered condolences upon the passing of Fernan’s father. Annoyed by his paramour’s reckless act, Fernan secretly met with Loida at the corner of the street, warned her, and drove her away. Yet, Loida refused to leave and even told Fernan to introduce her as a mere acquaintance in order to avoid other people’s doubt, especially that of his family’s. Unbeknownst to them, Chico (JM De Guzman) was watching in silence.
Another scene in this Toplist shows Loida dropping by the hospital where Fernan was confined. She failed to take a glimpse of him. Instead, Chico blocked her way and told her to never show up again. And for this first time, we heard one of the Mabunga siblings call Loida ‘kabit,’ stirring both satisfaction and gigil.
But, then again, Loida refused to call it quits. She kept on pestering Fernan with phone calls, begging him for a secret rendezvous. What she thought was just another tryst turned to something painful and devastating. Fernan made a stand by choosing his family over Loida, much to the latter’s despair. Loida made a scene outside her place as she held tight onto Fernan’s arms and desperately begged him not to leave. The lines, “Kahit magkunwari ka lang na mahal mo ako,” came out of her lips.
Winning back Fernan’s attention already seemed impossible so, Loida altered her schemes by befriending Luz and the Mabunga children, except Chico who was at the verge of disclosing the truth. Loida hired Luz in her company. And when confronted by Fernan about the obvious attempt to stick around, she confessed, “Gusto kong makilala ang asawa mo baka kasi ‘pag nakilala ko siya, maintindihan ko kung bakit siya ang pinili mo.”
Still trying to get closer to the Mabungas’ lives, Loida tried to make good impression to Fernan’s kids. She showed up at the Mabunga fruit stall and exchanged warm remarks with the family while Fernan and Chico’s patience obscure their anger. Loida even said she doesn’t like chico fruit, with an intention to provoke the eldest son. To her dismay, Chico only retorted with an equally offensive comment, “Marami pa namang iba diyan, ‘yung wala kayong kaagaw.”
After everything that happened, Loida continues to wreak havoc on the Mabunga household. Where will Loida’s desperation and bitterness take her? Watch out for more gripping episodes of “Pamilya Ko.”
