Pamilya Kowentuhan: Mabunga family shares how they stay productive

Mabungang araw mga ka-fruit salad,” greets the lively Mabunga family to open the seventh episode of “Pamilya Kowentuhan” on OKS (Online Kapamilya Shows). The babies of the tribe – Raikko Mateo and Mutya Orquia – serve as this episode’s hosts and begin their spiels by asking their on-screen clan how they keep the days productive.

The matriarch Sylvia Sanchez still takes her activities lightly after battling with COVID-19. Sylvia is feeling better each day but going back to normal must be taken as a process and with caution.  The siblings’ Tatay Joey Marquez makes sure that his vehicles are well maintained even when just parked idle outside. JM de Guzman and Kid Yambao like hanging out with friends and loved ones, well, in the digital world. Grooming his pet dog is part of Jairus Aquino’s quarantine to-do list while song-writing and yoga always jumpstart Kira Balinger’s productivity.

Asked how they bond with their families during this quarantine, those who are miles away from their loved ones like Maris Racal tap digital apps for help. Sylvia and her family pray the rosary every night, strengthening their bond and faith at the same time. Joey brightens up the home with his comedy skills. As they say, laughter is always the best medicine. “Gaano man kalaki ang problema mo, mas malaki ang Diyos mo,” says Joey, urging the viewers to remain hopeful amidst all the challenges. The Mabungas do not forget to include the whole nation in their prayers.

The segment – Pamilya KoLab – features Jairus performing a virtual duet of “Stand by Me” with guest frontliner Fire Officer Melissa Gonzales from Nueva Ecija. According to Melissa, the biggest obstacle of being a frontliner is longing for their families back home. Dealing with non-compliant citizens can sometimes add up to the challenge. So, in behalf of all frontliners, Melissa stresses that flattening the curve also requires the citizens doing their part.

After the Pamilya KoLab comes the exchange of hilarious banter and poking fun at each other. The Mabunga guys become a definition of strong brotherhood as they shower Jairus with cheers, and exaggerated praises. The social media savvy Peachy teases Percy with a poor score, leading in a cute asarang-magkapatid.
