Just as when Clark (James Reid) and Leah (Nadine Lustre) were starting to grow their feelings for each other and turn their fake relationship into a real one, Jigs (Albie Casino)’s arrival to San Francisco messed up the situation and almost thwarted the blossoming love. Let’s take a look back at how Clark, Leah, and Jigs’ youthful emotions brought them in a dreaded love triangle in On the Wings of Love.
Solid OTWOListas got their hearts drenched in overflowing ‘kilig’ over Clark and Leah’s ‘hubby and wifey’ moments from Napa Valley back to San Francisco but only to end up frustrated with Jigs coming into the picture. The competitive cousin and desperate ex-boyfriend felt happy seeing Leah again. Yet the feeling wasn’t mutual. Clark and Leah felt trapped in Jigs’ annoying conceit, and almost wished that he may disappear and come home to the Philippines in a snap.
When approached by Jack (Cherry Pie Picache) to discuss her noticeable discomfort, Leah got completely honest about not having any feelings left for Jigs. Jack appreciated Leah’s candor but asked for a request – to just let Jigs look at her as an inspiration. With all the selfless help she got from Jack, it was impossible for Leah to turn down the plea, adding more to her predicament.
The war between Clark and Jigs started rolling. In a scene, the rivals gave us a hint at how males use masculinity to gauge their worth. Clark and Jigs low-key tried to outdo each other in a muscle-flexing competition in front of Leah, making her morning a little hilarious.
Jigs didn’t like seeing Clark and Leah getting too close and overly sweet during the annual gathering of the Filipino community in San Francisco. It was a day full of jealousy and feelings dying to swim to the surface.
The hide-and-seek eventually had to come to an end or, perhaps, escalate to a deeper conflict. For Jigs, nothing would come close to the pain and anger of confirming your cousin and ex-girlfriend’s secret ‘relationship’ and catching them kiss as receipt.
Three is a crowd and the love triangle even gets more tangled when it involves ex-lovers, relatives, and a fake marriage. But that’s exactly what made Clark and Leah’s love story exciting and long-lasting.
