From this incredible Ppop deconstruction of The Itchyworms original, one can tell The Filipino Voices of Asia Billboard KPower 100 awardees SB19 and BINI's paths of greatness were always meant to cross each other.
The song was originally written by the four original members of The Itchyworms - Jugs Jugueta, Jazz Nicolas, Kelvin Yu, and Chino Singson - along with producer multi-awarded certfied hitmaker Jonathan Manalo for the first season of ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. It was such a vibrant pop-rock anthem for young Filipinos.
Fast forward to 2022, The Kings & Queens of Ppop - Ppop phenoms SB19 and The Nation's Girl Group BINI collaborated for a fresh new version of the song for both Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 and The Music of Jonathan Manalo 20 Years compilation.
Fast forward to 2024 and both groups have achieved massive success, sold out major concerts and broken records in their own different ways. They recently flew to South Korea to receive their The Filipino Voices of Asia Billboard KPower 100 awards. They turly are the leaders in the very rich field of Ppop music.
“This milestone belongs not just to us, but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, everyone sharing Filipino creativity across Asia and the world,” said Josh Cullen of SB19.
“To every Filipino artist, creative, and to the music legends before us: you inspire us to keep growing and to excel without losing heart,” The group's widely-known Pinuno Pablo added. “This award represents the P-pop community’s mission and that is to bring Filipino artistry to the global stage, starting right here in Asia.”
"Ama, salamat at Ikaw ang agimat. Bawat banat – patuloy na iwawagayway ang watawat. Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino! Maraming salamat po."
"Being here tonight with so many talented artists inspire us to keep pushing boundaries and share our music with the world," BINI Jhoanna said. This award reminds us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication."
To our fellow artists, we admire and respect each and every one of you. To our fellow P-pop group, SB19, thank you so much for inspiring us."
