Belle Mariano exemplifies the galing and alaga of Biogesic as she gave her Bubblies an all-out performance at her first major face-to-face concert.

While we are aware of Belle Mariano mainly for her dazzling acting chops, it is undeniable that she has established herself as an honest-to-goodness recording artist with her first album Daylight and her newly-released EP Somber. Following her positive Daylight digital concert last January of 2022, Belle achieved another relevant and remarkable career breakthrough with her first live and face-to-face solo major concert. Entitled Beloved, the sold-out concert unified her Bubblies (fandom), friends, and family at the New Frontier Theater where she let loose and lived her innermost pop star dreams to the hilt. She was unquestionably in topnotch form last July 22 and despite the heavy rains happening during the numerous hours spent for concert preparations, Belle managed to bring out that Biogesic-level of galing and alaga in her performance to her Bubblies.

The night started out with segments from some of our – pun very much intended – beloved sponsors. First up was a Biogesic-sponsored “This or That” trivia game about Belle Mariano. Did you know that Belle’s full name is Belinda Angelito Mariano and that she’s a Gemini? Aside from this, she first dreamed of being a scientist and started acting at the age of nine. Also, did you know that Biogesic is Belle’s go-to-medicine for headache and fever especially this rainy season and with the changing weather?

The concert began with a very stylish Belle video montage followed by the concert’s opening number, which, appropriately, is her breakthrough hit “Sigurado” with orchestral arrangements. She then had her brief welcome spiels to the sold-out capacity crowd before stripping off the skirt of her pink catsuit and chiffon coat ensemble custom made by Joseph Palma before performing a fierce song-and-dance cover of Dua Lipa’s hit “Levitating”. To say she slayed is a huge understatement. Belle collaborated with stylist Adrianne Concepcion for her four eye-candy looks that night.

A video montage of what her EP Somber is all about came out before Belle proceeded to perform her present single "Somber and Solemn".  The track is about the power of taking pause and having that epiphany that life has its bright spots when you look and consider everything. In spite of the difficulties and confusion, there is always light at the end of the darkness.

Somber shows Belle as an adequate storyteller with her song, and “Session Road” is one of the cuts that best proves this. After trying to recuperate her emotional wounds by taking a break in Baguio, it soon navigates to a chance meeting with a new guy on Session Road. With a musical arrangement that ascends to portray its evolving emotions, the track epitomizes how separations can get long-winded.

For Somber, Belle teamed up with some of the most promising young producers and songwriters. She had a well-equipped battalion to work with – Daylight producer and certified hitmaker-songwriter-producer Rox Santos, singer-songwriters Trisha Denise, Cesca, and Jeremy G. (also coming into his own as a studio wizard).

Belle brought in Cesca onstage to do the Somber track “Pansamantala”, where Belle digs deeper and contemplates on the insight that her relationship is nearing its inevitable sad conclusion. It is a very bitter pill to take, and that’s an emotion Belle and Cesca flesh out with their heavenly voices. Still, the song ends to new possibilities of reawakening the love, that a spark can be lit once more.

After a solo performance by Cesca, Belle came back onstage with a gorgeaous blue ensemble and performed her biggest hit song “Tanging Dahilan”. It ignited the biggest kilig moments of the night when her Donbelle partner-in-crime Donny Pangilinan showed up on the LED screens! By just the way he looked, it was easy to see how proud he was of Belle glowing on her own limelight.

The Gen Z phenomenal actress then performed a foreign hugot hits medley from different present time periods – “Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo, “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script, and “I Don’t Want to Wait” by Paula Cole

Belle then did “Bugambilya”, arguably one of the biggest initial early picks from Somber. The song lyrically offers the most erudite take on the unabridged album in a four-minute emotional magnum opus. “Hugis ng pananabik ang namumulaklak sa panimula/Ng isang panahon kung sa'n nais kong umalis.” The decision to have bilingual Filipino and English lyrics paid off, putting the track at its most vivid.

Somber EP collaborator Trisha Denise joined Belle onstage. It also worked as a reunion of sorts for the two women, as Trisha also wrote the aforementioned “Sigurado” for Belle, among other songs. The duo sang “Running Out of Time”. This song can count as a Gen Z anthem of sorts where the track’s persona calls to mind the trials that many youths go through these days, that persistent necessity to scurry to attain many goals as possible. We live in times where people feel that there’s not enough time and entitled to instant gratification, and the song exhibits the point of how this thinking takes a toll on your physical, mental, and emotional health. Considering how she has hardly taken a day off since her rise to popularity two years ago, “Running Out of Time” is a song that will most likely resonate with Belle. Life is about taking things one step at a time.

Belle’s final special guest performer was once-in-a-generation pop talent and one of Belle’s closest showbiz friends Darren Espanto. She once anew paraded her aptitude for singing and dancing with their performance of the Philpop hit “Dati” (Sam Concepcion, Tippy Dos Santos and Quest).

Mariano then gave her bubblies a huge surprise when she donned a guitar to perform the Jayda Avanzado-written and tear-inducing inspirational song “Rise”. Musical director Iean Inigo then took the acoustic to help her do a unique acoustic spin on a cover medley of “Time After Time” originally by Cyndi Lauper and “Dancing Queen” by ABBA

For her momentous closing salvo, Belle came out wearing an eye-popping catsuit covered in black crystals to do the title cut of her planned Somber and Solemn double concept EP. The song is about having that realization that life has its good moments when you take a step back, smell the coffee and take a look at everything. In spite of the hardships and perplexities, there is always a solution for every problem.

She put the proverbial icing on the cake that is her first major solo concert aptly with the Selena Gomez empowerment and independence-themed  "Who Says" before getting flowers some of her most significant life and career well-wishers and, of course, Donny Pangilinan. Belle returned for an encore and finished the night with a rendition of the party rock anthem "Shut Up and Dance" (WALK THE MOON).

While Belle’s journey towards becoming a legitimate concert queen may just have started, she proved herself to be a new gen phenomenal pop princess in Beloved
