With his straitlaced, geeky, and dapper appearance, it’s really not difficult for our attentions and hearts to be captured by Innocencio Cortes, or simply “Inno”, the lead male protagonist in Ngayon at Kailanman portrayed by promising young actor Joshua Garcia.
That’s why, in spite of the bickering and misunderstandings he had with the plucky lass Eva Mapendo (Julia Barretto), their hostile relationship bloomed into a strong friendship and eventually, a romantic affair that is highly objected by their both families as this only would only compromise the interest of both parties.
Aside from the trouble their warring moms and his bitter brother Oliver (Jameson Blake) are bringing to their ties, a lovely and sassy girl from Inno’s past came into the picture to not only try to steal the heirlooms that are supposedly for the legitimate heiress of the Cortes clan – Angela, but to take him away from Eva, too. And she is Roxanne Constantino (Elisse Joson), the childhood friend of Inno whom he used to fondly call as “Ann-Ann” and was hired by his mom Stella (Alice Dixson) to stand as Angela’s imposter.
Her job made it possible for them to rekindle their friendship, as well as giving her a chance to finally ‘fess up about her feelings for him that she’s been hiding ever since they were young. She tried to seduce him through physical contact and her sweet words to no avail because his heart only beats for Eva.
Although she failed to win him, it didn’t stop her to be his most trusted confidante and shoulder to cry on in times of trial, particularly when Eva called it quits with Inno and left to pursue a new life abroad. And when she came back, Roxanne became his “partner-in-crime” in making his ex-girlfriend jealous, which made her upset and decided to leave for him to finally realize what he needed to do.
While we truly enjoyed the bubbliness of Roxanne and her idyllic friendship with Inno, our hearts melted as many of us surely identified with her character in one unforgettable scene. This was when she broke down telling him that it’s not easy for her to fully accept the rekindling of his romance with Eva and thanking him for letting her love him, yet she still wishes them true happiness.
Will Roxanne finally find the genuine love she’s been pining for in the end? Let’s find out by watching the last week of Ngayon at Kailanman, weeknights after FPJ’s Ang Probnsyano on Primetime Bida.
