Aside from the filial conflict between the Villalunas and the Salvadors and the father and daughter story of Michael (RK Bagatsing) and Mikmik (Sophia Reola), we also witnessed on Nang Ngumiti Ng Langit the beautiful development of the endearing love story between Michael’s brother James Villaluna (Enzo Pineda) and Anna Defensor (Michelle Vito).
Anna is the trustworthy and faithful secretary of the wicked Katrina (Cristine Reyes), who was revealed in the end as the culprit behind the worsening Villaluna-Salvador feud. However, Anna knew nothing of Katrina’s lies and has maintained to work with her regarding office-related matters only. Loyal as she is, she has been Katrina’s only secretary in all the companies she worked for. And during the days when Katrina worked in the company of the Villalunas, Anna met James.
At first, Anna and James didn’t like each other. They started off with hate due to their unpleasant first encounter where James accidentally tripped Anna, spraining her ankle and breaking her shoe. Although they were always annoyed to see each other at the office after the incident, James still apologized and tried to make it up to Anna. As they continued to see each other at work, they eventually saw each other in a different light. Gradually, Anna saw James’ kindness, while James saw Anna’s selfless personality. A few encounters more until they liked each other and James was the one who first confessed his feelings towards Anna. Even though Anna feels the same way, she tried to withhold her feelings, uncomfortable at the thought of having a relationship with the CEO of the Villaluna company.
Nevertheless, knowing that they both need to listen to what their hearts say instead of what they hear from the other employees, they both agreed to try to work things out between them. James courted Anna discreetly, while keeping their conversations and actions at the office professional.
Going through the courtship stage, Anna and James treated each other well. They communicated openly and talked about anything, whether it’s about family, work, or even personal issues. They would even criticize each other’s actions to help them grow. Ultimately, they would support and understand each other the best way they can. When Katrina’s crimes have been exposed, James placed his whole trust on Anna, knowing the she will always stand for what is right and this made Anna love him even more.
And, when they officially became a couple, they still maintained a genuine connection with each other. When Anna testified against Katrina over the death of the latter’s husband Eric (Rafa Siguion Reyna), James protected and stood by her.
Indeed, Anna and James’ sweet love story is something we would all miss as Nang Ngumiti ang Langit ends. Before saying goodbye to them, let us look back at some of their most ‘kilig’ moments by watching this Kapamilya Toplist.
