This is sure to spark interest in viewers as to how Cristine would personify such a vicious character onscreen.
But before we would witness Cristine in her new drama, let’s take a look back at her outstanding teleserye journey in ABS-CBN in this video.
After appearing in a pair of MMK episodes since her transfer to ABS-CBN in 2008, Cristine was first given a supporting role in the critically acclaimed Jericho Rosales-Carmen Soo drama Kahit Isang Saglit as the third wheel Alona Mondragon. This was before she was given her biggest role in her career then landing the eponymous titular character in Eva Fonda, a TV remake of the cult Alma Moreno classic.
Cristine would then make a special guest appearance in the 2009 top rating primetime teleserye May Bukas Pa, wherein she played the role of Cheska, a runaway young woman in search for her identity and her birth mother.
After this, Cristine would topbill the first book in the first Precious Hearts Romances Bud Brothers. She played the role of Georgie, an ex-campus crush who turned the life of ex-boyfriend Vince (Jake Cuenca) around when she comes back with a baby.
That same year, in late 2009, Cristine again would lead the cast in the Your Song Presents Babalik Kang Muli. She portrayed the role of Stella, a woman who got away from a lurid and indecent life with her mother Josie (Jaclyn Jose) only to ask her for forgiveness and acceptance when a rich boyfriend Raffy (Marc Abaya) left her and their child on their own.
Capping off 2009 is Cristine’s casting in the Precious Hearts Romances My Cheating Heart, as Nadine, the one true love of her childhood sweetheart Mio (Jake Cuenca).
In the next year, Cristine would headline yet another Precious Hearts Romances episode, Kristine, as Jewel, one who is at the center of a tempest among rich families with her supposedly forbidden love affair with Jaime (Zanjoe Marudo).
Cristine would come back to TV in 2011 with the chilling drama Reputasyon as the upright and decent Agnes, whose life turns upside down after being falsely accused as the governor’s mistress. This will lead to yet another riveting drama, Dahil Sa Pag-ibig, wherein she portrayed Jasmin Valderama, opposite a stellar cast that included Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales.
In 2013, Cristine then appeared in the teleserye Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin as Amanda, the supportive love interest of the trouble-laden protagonist Miguel (Gerald Anderson), who was accused of a crime he didn’t commit.
A few days after the series wrapped up, Cristine appeared in the ensemble inspiration teleserye Honesto, as Marie Olivarez, a helpful and sympathetic friend of Paulo Avelino’s character Diego.
But it was 2016 that Cristine was hailed for her acting chops in Tubig at Langis, when her character Irene aggressively fought for her love for Natoy (Zanjoe Marudo) in viral scenes viewed and shared on social media that depicted catfights with the latter’s desperate lover, Clara (Isabelle Daza).
Cristine would then have a sort of sabbatical from teleserye lead roles in the next two years, but still took on a challenging role in Ipaglaban Mo in 2017, in the episode “Takas,” wherein he played a mother whose customer in a nail salon kidnapped and sold her daughter to a stranger. The next year, she had a special participation in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos as the young Soledad Cardinal, the wife of Don Roman Cardinal (Ronaldo Valdez/Geoff Eigenmann) and real matriarch of the Cardinal clan.
Now, Cristine returns in a teleserye main role in the upcoming Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit, her first in nearly three years. Her exceptional craft and fascinating presence will surely light up our TV screens once more.
