Past Millionaires in “Minute To Win It”

In 2013, our Kapamilyas witnessed and enjoyed an exciting and nerve-racking game show entitled “Minute To Win It” hosted by Luis Manzano. It premiered on January 13, 2013 and ran until February 21, 2014. The hit daytime game show lasted for more than a year but out of the 271 episodes aired, only two pairs of contestants were lucky enough to win the jackpot prize of 1 million pesos. Before “Minute To Win It; Last Man Standing” returns next week, let us pay homage to the past millionaires of the show.

The first ever millionaires were Chefs Tristan Encarnacion and Nino Logarta. They won the jackpot prize in the February 4, 2014 episode after competing and defeating Asian Poker Ambassadors Barbie Arsolo and Vannah Rodrigo. In the preliminary round, the two chefs won 3 out of 5 challenges namely Flippin’ Dominoes, Spin Doctor and Shoe Fly Shoe, that gave them 90 thousand pesos and also qualified them to the ultimate challenge round. Their ultimate challenge was the Glass Road Trucker where they had to blow ping-pong balls along a series of glass bottles that they've lined up upside down and make sure that the balls landed in small shot glasses at the other end of the line. It took the chefs 59 seconds to complete the challenge successfully and win 1 million pesos. In the end, the duo took home an accumulated grand total of P1,090,000.

Two weeks after the win of chefs Tristan Encarnacion and Nino Logarta, former world-boxing champion Gerry Peñalosa and his son, JC, also won 1 million pesos during the February 19, 2014 episode. The Penalosas went head to head with basketball players Alvin and Jeron Teng in the preliminary round. On The Rebound was their ultimate challenge. In the one-minute challenge, JC wore a clipboard tied around his waist as he stood behind four trashcans, while his father threw ping-pong balls. The balls should hit the clipboard first and must bounce to get into the trashcans. They needed to score three balls per trashcan, or a total of twelve ping-pong balls in order to win the jackpot prize. It took them 55 seconds to complete the challenge successfully and the father and son tandem took home a total of P1,050,000.

Don’t miss more heart-stopping and thrilling challenges in “Minute To Win It: Last Man Standing”, still hosted by Luis Manzano, starting this Monday only on ABS-CBN.
