It’s one thing to be a great actor but it’s definitely another thing to be an effective TV host at the same time. Only a few are given such talent and one of them is none other than the longtime TV host and actor, Luis Manzano, who has been surely looked up to by many for his hosting skills.
We have seen Luis host television shows of all sorts - from musical variety shows to reality game shows. And countless times he’s proven how a great and effective host he has always been. Let’s take a trip down memory lane to reminisce the TV shows wherein the very talented Luis Manzano was host.
Luis’ hosting career is nearing 2 decades already and it started in as early as 2001 where he hosted ASAP and became a VJ in MYX. In 2004, he then started hosting for the talent competition Star Circle Quest which premiered also in the said year. Luis hosted the show until 2006 and in 2005, he also hosted Qpids, a reality love team search.
In 2006, he became a host of the first season of Pinoy Big Brother, particularly the Celebrity Edition. He also became a co-host of Entertainment Live in 2008, opposite Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez and Bianca Gonzales. In 2010, Luis was given the chance to host both Panahon Ko 'To!: Ang Game Show ng Buhay Ko with Billy Crawford and Pilipinas Got Talent which he hosted until 2013 and 2016.
In 2011, he then hosted the comedy gag show Laugh Out Loud with Alodia Gosiengfiao. Come 2012, Luis had the chance to host popularly known game show Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, which was previously hosted by Kris Aquino. Luis hosted the game show from 2012-2013 and from 2015-2016.
Luis was given the opportunity to host more projects as he fronted the game show Minute to Win It from 2013-2014 and 2016-2017. In 2014-2015, Luis also had the chance to host The Voice PH Kids and cross-overed from the show to host The Voice of the Philippines. He was accompanied by his co-host Toni Gonzaga as well as the “V reporters” Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga.
Luis never ran out of shows to host since then and had his hosting career continued up until now. In 2015-2016, he hosted the game show Celebrity Playtime. Billy Crawford was the first to host the first seven episodes of the show but Luis replaced him as a host starting the eighth episode.
We can say that Luis is really one of the best in manning the stage of TV game shows as he hosted the well-known Family Feud in 2016 until 2017. Luis also hosted the third version of The Voice Philippines franchise, which was The Voice Teens, in 2017. Luis also became a guest host of It’s Showtime also in the same year.
Luis has been recognized by the industry since he started hosting. The Philippine Movie Press Club had repeatedly awarded Luis as Best Male TV Host and Game Show Host, starting in 2004, for Star Circle Quest. He then got Star Awards for TV in 2006 and 2007 for ASAP, in 2011 for Pilipinas Got Talent and Entertainment Live, in 2015 for Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, in 2016 for ASAP and The Voice PH Kids.
The current show that Luis hosts is the musical game show I Can See Your Voice, which just aired its finale last January 6, 2019. Luis is not even done hosting the game show but he has two more projects in line at the start of 2019.
First is the third season of Minute to Win It: Last Man Standing wherein he would again challenge contestants to the most insane, mind-boggling dares in order to win cash prizes. It premieres January 7, Monday, before TV Patrol.
And, second is The World of Dance Philippines, wherein he is joined by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach as show presenters. This upcoming dance competition series will somehow be a new experience for Luis as it will be a new genre of a TV show. Pia and Luis will be accompanied by the judges of the competition who are Billy Crawford, Maja Salvador, and Gary Valenciano. It will premiere this coming January 12, Saturday as it replaces I Can See Your Voice. This surely is another exciting opportunity for Luis to showcase his hosting skills.
