Adrian, Fino, and Luis thankful for friendship with Marry Me, Marry You senior co-stars

Kilig and refreshing with K-drama feels’ is how viewers describe Kapamilya series Marry Me, Marry You and the cast are all happy with the buzz they created. Up-and-coming actors Adrian Lindayag, Fino Herrera, and Luis Vera-Perez shared more reasons why the teleserye is worth watching and things to look forward to in the coming episodes as they sat with Kapamilya Chat.

Adrian, Fino, and Luis make up the new breed of stars in the series. Luis, who just penned his Star Magic contract last June, said he’s thankful for this big leap in his career. Adrian and Fino are likewise grateful to Dreamscape Entertainment and ABS-CBN for the opportunity to be part of the show.

Adrian said he couldn’t say ‘no’ to a teleserye composed of luminaries and award-winning artists. Besides, he didn’t want to be choosy with roles and projects during the pandemic.

Adrian plays Kelvin, the son of Elvie (Cherry Pie Picache) and Victor (Lito Pimentel). The closeted gay finds a bestfriend and sister in Camille, portrayed by Janine Gutierrez. Fino adds more charm as Luke, a gym instructor and student who’d become Paula (Sunshine Dizon)’s love interest. Luis is the “nerdy pero maporma” Jomer, the brother of Angelica Lao’s character, Jamie.  Playing their parents are Vina Morales as Marvi and Jett Pangan as Myke.

The newcomers feel lucky to be working with seasoned thespians. Beginning with Paulo Avelino playing Andrei, Adrian was all-smiles as he talked about the actor’s generosity and care. He found a brother in him and he will treasure their bond. Fino and Luis added that Paulo was very “chill and steady.”

On Janine, Adrian said their bond extends behind the scenes. She calls him by his pet name, which only his parents do. And even Janine’s mom, Lotlot de Leon, is warm toward Adrian. Just working with Janine and Paulo is already too much of a blessing for Adrian, much more building friendship with them. Janine is also the sweetest in the bunch. She never stops smiling and chatting with her co-stars and she’s even the first one to approach the younger cast.

Sunshine is the epitome of professionalism, according to Fino, who’s amazed by her quick reaction during takes. “Super bait, talented, at generous hindi lang sa advice kundi pati sa food,” he added. Adrian met Sunshine before as a co-member in AKTOR, an organization of Filipino actors. He thought she was strict but she was the opposite on the set of Marry Me, Marry You. Their friendship was a surprise to him, adding that Sunshine is never selfish of her experiences and genius.

Adrian was starstruck with Cherry Pie during their early lock-in cycles. He’s in awe of her brilliance that he couldn’t help but stare while she’s acting. And like a true mom, Cherry Pie gives the warmest hugs. Fino could relate to Adrian’s struggle, saying there were times when he was too amazed to throw his lines. So for Luis, his greatest takeaway from Cherry Pie is to be in the moment.

The Marry Me, Marry You stars went on to talk about the topics explored in the series, one of which is having a big extended family. Adrian can relate to Camille’s family setup and he thinks it’s a blessing than a problem. He always has someone to run to. Adrian is moved by Camille’s relationship with her family, considering that they are not all blood-related, proving that family are the people we choose to love.

Fino is also a fan of big clans and of friendships that turn into families. “Kahit sinong stranger dyan, bigyan mo lang ng oras o panahon, magiging family mo na ‘yan,” he said. Same goes for Luis, who believes that God, and not mere blood relations, connects a family.

Another discussion among Marry Me, Marry You fans is hinged on love being a package deal. Adrian believes that marriage also means building rapport with the other person’s family and even friends. Fino agreed that a good relationship among relatives is vital to a successful married life. Luis explained it through the idea of individuality. He said the couple had different lives and families prior to marriage and not even settling down can erase the people from their past.
