As ABS-CBN’s newest teleserye Marry Me, Marry You is now in its second week, Kapamilya Chat recently caught up with three of its young stars Keann Johnson, Analain Salvador, and Angelica Lao to talk about their experiences in working on the series and being part of the elite group The Squad Plus.
The host commenced the interview by having each of the three artists introduce themselves and congratulating Keann for the success of his iWantTFC series “Love Beneath the Stars”, the sequel of the award-winning movie “The Boy Foretold by the Stars” that he topbilled with fellow Marry Me, Marry You co-star Adrian Lindayag.
Keann, Analain and Angelica shared their experiences in doing the well-loved romance-comedy drama by introducing their respective characters first. Angelica portrays Jamie the beloved daughter of Marvi (Vina Morales) and Myke (Jett Pangan); Analain is Koleen, the conservative and independent unica hija of Paula (Sunshine Dizon) who longs to be with her dad Aljo (Joko Diaz); while Keann is Xavier, the smart and achiever half-brother of Andrei (Paulo Avelino) who’s eager to follow the footsteps of their dad Emilio (Edu Manzano) – which they all got by going through a quick audition last March.
Since they’ve already known each other for quite some time through being members of the ever-growing The Squad Plus, it’s indeed easy for them to adjust and work alongside each other. As they mentioned that Jamie and Xavier are going to be an item in the series, Analain teased how the viewers will surely get kilig over them because of their unmistakable chemistry in their scenes together, so we should watch out for it!
When it comes to working alongside the veterans, they enthused how intimidating and pressuring it was at first, but they eventually got relieved as time went by as they get to know and interact with them more.
“A first, everyone was very intimidating. Of course, they are big actors and actresses kaya nakakakaba to be working with them. You’ll feel that you can’t commit mistakes kasi baka ma-delay ‘yong sequences na [ginagawa] namin. But then, noong patagal nang patagal, they were really nice, tinutulungan pa kami kada eksena namin, binibigyan pa kami ng mga advice on how to do this and how to do that. So ‘yon, was really easy na rin nang patagal nang patagal na,” Analain related.
Angelica echoed it by saying how pressured she initially was not to commit mistakes in every scene she does. But as they began to know them, such as Cherry Pie Picache, they were really to find out how funny she could be. Keann, on the other hand, doesn’t get to spend much time with her since he belongs to another circle, he simply discussed how it is working with Edu and Teresa Loyzaga.
“No’ng first cycle namin, I asked advice kina Sir Edu or Ms. Teresa about acting or being part of the industry, lahat-lahat. And I learned so much from them na up until now, they’re still manifesting in me. I will never forget the advice that they’ve given me and I always thank them,” he shared.
With regards to her most memorable scenes with her on-screen mom Sunshine Dizon, Analain refused to pick one because each all their scenes together are significant for her, yet confessed how nervous she was upon finding out that she would work with her most of the time. She expressed how thankful she is to work with her, as well with other veteran and seasoned cast, who have been very much patient and helpful to her and the other up-and-coming artists.
They then described how super fun, easy to get along with, and nice Janine Gutierrez is, while they find Paulo very chill, amazing, thrilling, and fun to work with.
Since Marry Me, Marry You features a huge, extended family, Angelica, Analain, and Keann find being a part of a large family a blessing and a different experience because you get to celebrate various occasions and have more people to run to in times of trouble. Besides, when asked what their dream wedding is going to be in the future, they all eye to have a beach wedding as they find it really romantic.
Their conversation eventually veered to their being part of The Squad Plus, which they compared to just hanging out with their friends.
“Super happy ako maging part ng The Squad Plus kasi ang dami namin doon, as if hindi na lang kami friends doon, parang family na kami kasi ang dami nga namin. Super fun lang kasi kada may dumadagdag, and I think super fun ng mga ginagawa naming challenges. Actually, hindi na siya work e, parang naglalaro na lang kami sa set,” Angelica conveyed.
The two echoed this, with Analain regarding it as a blessing, while Keann confessed how he used to feel a bit overwhelmed by the fact that some of them have celebrity relatives, yet enjoyed every moment he has with them, especially Analain and Angelica. They also imparted the most unforgettable content or vlog they’ve ever created for their YouTube channel.
The host concluded the interview by having them play the “Ang Pinaka Challenge,” wherein they name who among their castmates correspond the best to the descriptions given to them.
