Intrigued and trying to fix Tinapay Corner’s declining sales, Gabo (Enrique Gil) goes to Nueva Valencia to check on his business competitor. Gabo smears his handsome face with dirt, wears rugged clothes, and puts on a wig to disguise as a beggar and purchase two bags of Panaderia de Tony’s bestselling pan de tsalap.
While waiting for his driver, Gabo picks up pieces of plastic bottles scattered around. He has grown accustomed to the habit that brought him a living in Croatia.
Billy (Liza Soberano), riding on a bus going home, catches a glimpse of Gabo. Even with the dirt coating his face, Billy instantly knew that it was him. She panics and demands the bus to make a stop pronto. But Gabo is no longer in the area where she spotted him.
Just as when she’s already lost all hope, Billy catches Gabo at a corner. They meet each other’s eyes. Billy’s face hardens in anger. She looks at him with questioning stares. Without saying a word, Gabo turns his back at Billy. Fate gives Billy the chance to clear up her mind but all she manages to say is “Why?” while tears roll down her eyes.
Gabo’s response is simple, saying he is no longer the guy who Billy met in Croatia. But the straightforward one-liner explanation only stirs Billy’s confusion even more.
Billy comes home crying and embraces her Tatay Tony (Herbert Bautista) to seek comfort for her bruised heart. Assuming that the tears are just brought by their struggling bakery business, Tony reminds Billy that her love for something, or even someone, is not supposed to justify the hurt.
Later, Billy contacts Helen (Katya Santos) to share what happened. The both of them try to read between the lines but still end up puzzled by Gabo’s intention. Billy then tearfully assumes that perhaps she isn’t that important to him.
