While on a conference with Billy (Liza Soberano) and the members of the Board, Gabo (Enrique Gil) accidentally drops a utensil after tasting a bread pudding sample. He ducks under the table and finds Billy’s feet wearing the same blue sandals owned by his ‘guardian angel’ in Croatia. He’s been bothered since then, so he runs to Tita Jessica (Pokwang) for comfort.
Jessica learns how Gabo jumped form one city to another until he lived as an immigrant and a beggar. Gabo shares that Billy tossed him a piece of apple when he almost died out of hunger. Yet, Jessica remains puzzled on the extreme guilt bothering Gabo. She demands to know the whole story before making any judgment or giving him advice. But seeing that Gabo is not yet ready to spill all the details, Jessica hands him a blank journal to help ease the suffocating feelings.
Jotting down his thoughts, Gabo admits that he found a new home in Croatia; and that he loved Billy for real. A flashback reveals the true reason behind Gabo’s sudden disappearance from Billy’s life. Gabo agreed to a date with Antonia to save Billy, clueless that the girl would lead him to trouble. Antonia was aware of Gabo’s real identity since the beginning. Her father was a powerful ambassador who had connections with Ted (Ian Veneracion). Antonia’s father demanded Gabo to call Ted and bring them into a business deal with the Villarica Corporation in exchange of Billy’s life. Scared to get Billy hurt, Gabo did as he was told. Gabo was then ordered by his father to come home to the Philippines and go back to Rio. He tried to refuse. But threatened about his and his friends’ safety, Gabo was forced to leave Billy without a word.
Following the trail of revelations, the next flashback shows Gabo using his connections to help Helen (Katya Santos) win in her child custody case; and acquire a citizenship for Yuta (Fumiya Sankai).Apparently, Gabo was also the one worked out Billy’s scholarship in Paris.
