In Croatia, Gabo (Enrique Gil) joins a group of illegal migrants inside a caravan in an attempt to cross borders. But the plan comes to a halt when one passenger accidentally creates noise while they are passing on a check-point, alarming the authorities. The incident turns into a commotion when the homeless people fight and escape from the cops. Gabo hides in the woods.
The next morning, he wakes up to the sight of forest animals almost smothering him. Gabo hitchhikes in another van. When asked where he’s headed to, the grubby-faced Gabo fails to utter a specific destination. He instead requests the samaritan to give him a ride going to the most beautiful city in Croatia which happens to be Dubrovnik.
The poor young guy wanders around the scenic place with only a few belongings and with nothing to eat. Frail and starving, Gabo eventually collapsed. Luckily, a mystery woman, who he only recognizes through her blue sandals, tosses him a piece of apple.
Suddenly, Gabo decides to believe that the world is not cruel at all and he says he would like to meet the girl someday to thank her and tell her that she was the one who literally helped him get back up again.
While munching on his free food, Gabo sees another homeless man making money by collecting and selling plastic bottles. He decides to copy the beggar’s work and accumulates a good amount of payment which he uses to buy a piece of large bread that would last until dinner time.
Gabo takes a dip in the public beach and washes his clothes in the shower. Upon waking up in an empty trailer van, Gabo finds his old clothes stolen. He spends his remaining money on buying a set of wear and then continues collecting plastic bottles.
While riding on a bus, Gabo surprisingly catches a sight of a woman adorned with the same blue sandals worn by the kind stranger he’s looking for. Gabo hops off the bus right away and tries to catch the mystery girl.
