Being a mom is the most fulfilling and yet one of the steepest learning curves a woman can face in her life. It takes a lot of patience, let alone ‘motherly wisdom’ to raise a child.
Magandang Buhay hosts Melai Cantiveros, Karla Estrada, and Jolina Magdangal welcome Rufa Mae Quinto and Pokwang to the show to tackle on their own parenting skills, and can probably give us the tricks on the trades when it comes to motherhood.
Pokwang shared her memorable experiences with her daughter Malia, who the comedianne said, is sad and makes tampo when she gets left behind at home. Notwithstanding her busy schedule, the actress stressed that she makes sure that she is able to spend quality time with Malia. She added that her daughter is able to spend time with her grandparents as well, especially when her husband Lee O’ Brian’s parents are in the country. Pokwang admitted that, unlike her husband, she still believes in the ‘palo punishment’ when it comes disciplining her child.
The Kapamilya actress although emphasized that before spanking Malia, she first gives her daughter a warning; then if Malia doesn’t listen, she uses her index and middle finger to spank her daughter gently. However, she stressed that she doesn’t believe in the idea of spanking a child all the time, because there will come a time that they will become immune to it. Pokwang pointed out the other option would be talking to her daughter instead of imposing physical punishment.
Joining the momshies on today’s episodes was Doctor Ali Gui, a relational life coach and psychologist, who gave tips on how mothers should take care of their children. According the doctor, it is imperative that parents are always there for their children when they need them, in order avoid trust issues when they get older. The specialist reiterated that showering kids with love and affection plays a crucial part in the parenting process, let alone because children are helpless
