There’s a saying that ‘we choose our friends not our family’, therefore it is safe to say, that it is imperative that we choose them wisely. As much as we value our family, we must remember that we are social beings who give importance to our peers. For today’s episode, Magandang Buhay hosts Melai Cantiveros, Karla Estrada and Jolina Magdangal had the chance to talk to BFFs Sylvia Sanchez and Angel Aquino about their friendship that stood the test of time.
Versatile actresses Sylvia and Angel bonded with the MB hosts, and narrated to them how their friendship began and what they really mean to each other. Their connection started on the set of the drama series, Recuerdo de Amor in 2001. “Nung nagka-show kami, ‘yun na nag-connect na kami. Tapos tawagan-tawagan. Pero hindi kami ‘yung labas nang labas,” Sylvia told the momshies. A couple of years later, they reconnected in their next project, which was the romantic-suspense teleserye topbilled by Angelica Panganiban, Apoy sa Dagat. “Dun namin na-prove na, ‘O magkaibigan tayo.’ Kasi you’ve got each other’s back. Sa kahit sa anong bagay, on set or off set, alam mo na parang ‘ako bahala sa’yo,” Angel emphasized. According to Angel, another time when she knew that Sylvia is a true friend was when she helped her out when she was experiencing some shipping issues. Angel disclosed that Sylvia took care of everything. The FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star also described Sylvia as a pal who is not judgmental at all, and said that she is always a phone call away. The two friends shared that they would usually meet up at Sylvia’s house because they are both homebodies.
When the momshies asked Sylvia if she still gives a piece of her mind to Angel when it comes to love, the veteran actress emphasized that she doesn’t really want to meddle and would prefer to just listen to Angel’s problems. For Sylvia, her friends are free to do whatever they want with their lives and she is aware that they usually march to the beat of their own drums. Angel thanked her dear friend for being her pillar of strength and welcoming her to her home. She also stressed that she is blessed to have a friend like Sylvia knowing that it is hard to find one in showbiz. “Thank you for not judging me. You’ve seen me with so many people in my life. Kung sinu-sino na ang nakita niya. Pero never niyang sinabi ‘’Wag ‘yan’,” Angel stated. Sylvia also had a touching message for Angel and assured her that no matter what happens she will always be there for her through thick and thin. “’Pag bumagsak ka, ‘pag malungkot ka, ‘pag umiyak ka, nandito lang ako,” she assured Angel.
While recounting their fond memories as friends, Sylvia also shared with MB viewers her one-of-a-kind Shrimp Lumpia recipe. The momshies were very impressed with the dish and immediately gobbled it down. “Naku napaka sarap!” Jolina said excitingly.
