In the Atayde abode, individual strengths come together for a common direction. In this episode of Magandang Buhay, Sylvia Sanchez and kids Arjo, Ria, and Gela Atayde share how they build a healthy family dynamic while working on their shared dreams.
There’s nothing more rewarding for parents than being told that they have raised good kids. The bonus, for Sylvia, is that her children are achievers as well. Arjo juggles acting and politics, and his family makes sure he’s supported all the way.
Ria shared, “We’ve learned to work around his job now. Kung kailangan din kami doon sa district, nando’n din kami. Our parents are super hands-on.” The only difference is now they make an effort to catch up and seize the time they spend with each other. So, the number one tip from the Ataydes on sustaining a solid bond despite their busy schedules is to maximize technology.
Ria joins Arjo in the series “Cattleya Killer,” which is considered ground-breaking in many ways. First, it was mounted for the international market. Add to that, it pushed Arjo and Ria to their limits as actors. Meanwhile, Gela, the newest Atayde in showbiz, is making waves in the world of dance. Part of the Ataydes’ positive family culture is inspiring one another to pursue their passion. Gela, for example, revealed that she fell in love with dancing through her brother Arjo, who was one of the original members of her current dance group.
They’ve also perfected the ability to work on their collective goals. At the moment, part of their family vision is to produce quality movies and brandish Filipino talent internationally through their production company, Nathan Studios.
As a mother, Sylvia didn’t impose her principles on her children. She simply guided and taught them the basics of survival and human connection. What she did was lead by example, and now she’s reaping the fruit of her parenting style as her kids have grown into caring, generous, strong, and compassionate people like her.
Arjo and Ria also talked about their romantic lives. Find out how the ‘kuya’ reacted to his sister’s relationship with Zanjoe Marudo, and how the family treats Arjo’s fiancée, Maine Mendoza. Hint: Sylvia mentioned that she often talks to Maine and she’s vocal about her request to have grandchildren very soon.
Plus, the youngest in the brood, Xavi Atayde, and the patriarch, Art Atayde, surprised the three with sweet messages. Sylvia then recalled how she and Art set up a satisfying family life, and it boils down to making sure they’re on the same page when it comes to raising their children.
