Being a mom is the most fulfilling and yet one of the steepest learning curves a woman can face in her life. It takes a lot of patience, let alone ‘motherly wisdom’ to raise a child.
Magandang Buhay hosts Melai Cantiveros, Karla Estrada, and Jolina Magdangal welcome Rufa Mae Quinto and Pokwang to the show to tackle on their own parenting skills, and can probably give us the tricks on the trades when it comes to motherhood.
The five momshies headed to the kitchen, where Pokwang and Rufa Mae showed off their cooking skills. When asked what their daughters’ favorite dishes are, Ruffa Mae replied that Athena is fond of eating steak, while Pokwang said that Malia loves Broccoli. Pokwang was up first, and prepped something healthy and inexpensive, which was a bowl of minced carrots; mixed with sweet potatoes, eggs, flour, and a little bit salt. After mixing everything, Pokwang placed it one a pan and fried away. She shared that there are times when she can tell when her daughter is sad. “Ang bata naman ‘pag may sakit ‘yan, iyak nang iyak ‘yan eh. Kahit anong gawing mong pagpapatahan dyan, iiyak. So ‘yung mommy instinct aalamin mo ngayon ‘yan. May kabag ba? May ano ‘yan? Anong ba ‘yung huling kinain?” she explained. In the end, they all enjoyed the simple but healthy recipe that Pokwang cooked for them.
Rufa Mae prepared her scrumptious Nilagang Baka with Kalabasa'. The ingredients to her recipe includes beef sirloin, petchay, repolyo, potatoes, onions, saba, kalabasa, beef broth, water; and of course, salt and pepper. The momshie pointed out that the meat should be tender, and has to be boiled in the pressure cooker mixed with the onions. She then continued on and mixed it with the other ingredients. While Rufa Mae was demonstrating and giving instructions, the 3 hosts along with Pokwang, jokingly tried to calm her down because they noticed that she was getting a bit caught up and hot-headed with what she was doing. “’Di pala pwede mag-cooking show pala ito. Ang init ng ulo.” Pokwang teased. The sexy comedianne started to laugh along and lightened up; and explained that she takes her cooking seriously. Again, the finished product definitely didn’t fail to impress everyone especially the kids.
Wow, not only are Rufa Mae ad Pokwang versatile actresses, they certainly also know their way around the kitchen!
