It’s back to school for the kiddos! And because Karla Estrada, Jolina Magdangal and Melai Cantiveros are such loving and hands-on momshies, they decided go to Balabag Elementary in situated in Boracay, to help the community, it’s teachers and students, for this year’s National School Maintenance Week. As we all know, the Brigada Eskwela, spearheaded by the Department of Education, aims to gather a number of education stakeholders, to take part in the preparation of public school facilities for the school year.

They were joined by Niñalyn Magsipoc, the coordinator of Brigada Eskwela at Balabag Elementary school, who gave them an idea of what transpires during the week. “It’s an annual preparation for the school year. It’s a one week activity,” she explained. The MB hosts then headed to an area where they were made to paint students’ armchairs with a bright green hue. Even Jordan tagged along to help the 3 momshies and started to paint the chairs as well. While carrying on with the task, Karla stressed that it is imperative that parents are active in this annual activity, “Importante kasi na nagpa-participate ‘yung family eh. Para hindi lang pinabayaan mo ‘yung anak mo pagdating sa school at wala ka lang alam.” They also underscored that it is moments like these that can serve as opportunity for parents to bond with their children. Jolina added that she doesn’t mind painting chairs as long as she knows that a hardworking student will utilize it. And the momshies emphasized that they believe it is because of teamwork that anything can be done, even if it seems impossible at first.
The 3 hosts were also assisted by three other mothers, who are also teachers at the school. They took time to bond with Martha Bañez, Catherine Hijosa and Joy Ellen Gregorio; and got to know them more. And since this year marks the 3rd anniversary of the show, they decided to award the 3 educators, who are also momshies for their years of service. Martha, Catherine and Joy were very thankful for the awards and were grateful that Magandang Buhay visited their school.
After their visit to Balabag school, they headed to a tattoo parlor, to have themselves inked. Melai and Karla even proudly showed off their existing tattoos. Melai shared that she had her rosary tattoo on her back because of her unwavering faith in God. She revealed that she religiously prayed the rosary every single day during her 5-month stay in Pinoy Big Brother house. And she firmly believes that this made her the Big Winner of PBB Double Up.
Karla explained why she chose to get one back then. “Dahil sa mga tattoo ko, mas na-express ko ‘yung aking sarili. At kahit minsan hindi ‘to naging kabawasan sa kung sino ako at sa pagiging nanay ko,” she stressed. Melai chose to get a sunflower inked on her leg, but as always was nervous. “Medyo may sakit siya, pero hindi naman ganun kasakit eh,” she said. As time passed, the Kapamilya star seemed to relax more and started singing songs. When all was done, the momshies couldn’t help but admire her new sunflower tattoo. Meanwhile Karla decided to put the faith on her arm because that’s her favorite word. “Favorite word ko ‘yan. Ever since talaga, pakiramdam ko ‘yung sumalba sa akin, ‘yung tiwala ko sa Diyos, ‘yung faith ko talaga. She then reiterated that she wants to remind everyone that we all need to have faith.
The girls were then off to one of their favorite activities which is ...Food tripping! This time Karla, Jolina and Melai along with Kaladkaren, Jhai Ho and Jordan, were keen on trying Seafood, at the Endeqal Shop and Restaurant. They purchased some Lobsters, Shrimps, Crabs, Shell, and some Fish, which were chosen by Karla. All of them watched in awe as the pros cooked their mouth-watering dishes with so much grace and finesse. As always, the gang gobbled up their seafood meals with excitement, and were very impressed with the outcome.
