Momshie-hosts Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, Karla Estrada, and Jolina Magdangal-Escueta opened the December 15 episode of Magandang Buhay by sharing some of the things that make them happy.
For Momshie Jolina, it’s her dream about his favorite Korean actor Park Seo-Joon, while it’s her husband Jason Francisco’s much-awaited homecoming after days of being in a lock-in taping for Momshie Melai. Meanwhile, for Momshie Karla, it’s her friend Vice Ganda’s latest vlog featuring his surprise tour at her abode, which has already raked in around two million views as of this writing.
Just in time for the start of Simbang Gabi, today’s guest Jaya serenaded us with her rendition of the classic Yuletide hymn “Give Love On Christmas Day” prior to the interview.
Apart from the fact that it’s already holiday season, her family has been full of love at present as she giddily shared that her stepson Gavin tied the knot with his “best friend” Athena in a seemingly intimate ceremony yesterday!
It was really special for them as their family went through a lot of struggles in the past three years that incredibly transformed because of their faith in God. She and her husband Gary are very happy as they saw how their son and daughter-in-law have been rewarded or blessed after they obeyed and stayed true to their promise to them.
The Soul Diva then went on to narrate how the she was the over-all in-charge of the planning, preparations, and the event proper and how she had witnessed the transformation of her son from encountering many adversities in his life into becoming the person that he is now through his deepened faith in Christ.
“Ang sabi ko, ‘you know, you don’t have to obey me and your dad or your other parents sa US. You obey God and everything will follow. Pero sabi ko rin, ‘kailangan ‘yong plano n’yo, iayon n’yo sa kung ano ang gusto ng Panginoon sa inyo, but you love to each other so much na ‘pag nagdaan kayo do’n sa hurdle, dedmahin n’yo ‘yon kasi wala naming taong ‘di nagdadaan sa pagsubok,” she imparted when asked what advise she bestowed to her son.
Mosmhie Jaya also recalled her and her family’s experience during the pandemic. According to her, their family actually just came from the United States around mid-March, the same period when the pandemic started. This left them with no helpers and drivers at home, thus most of the responsibility was passed on to her. Little did she knew that she was already experiencing depression that time that ensued to her drastic weight loss because of the change in her eating and sleeping habits.
Another challenge that came was when her husband suffered a mild stroke. But Momshie Jaya was very grateful that her husband Gary recovered immediately.
Amidst these challenges, she and her family had the opportunity to deepen their faith in God as they would worship and praise God together at home.
“Huwag tayong mag-dwell do’n sa ‘papaano?’. Dwell tayo do’n sa ‘we can do this!’. We can make it. Just pray. Ang corny ‘di ba? Dasal, pramis. Ang dami nang nasagot sa buhay ko ng dasal,” Momshie Jaya advised as she recalled everything that they went through in the previous months.
Strong and inspiring couple Mosmhie Rosell and Popshie Anthony Taberna also virtually guested on the show via Zoom as they imparted the challenge their family has been going through – their eldest child Zoey being diagnosed with leukemia.
She has already survived chemotherapy, and is currently in the maintenance stage. Momshie Rosell also shared that Zoey has been staying strong and positive despite her situation and is actually happy knowing that she gets to inspire a lot of people.
Furthermore, she admitted that she once blamed herself for what happened to her daughter. But her family, especially her husband Popshie Anthony, reminded her that it’s not and that it’s just part of God’s challenges that they have to conquer.
And lalong magpapatibay, of course, ng pananampalataya natin sa Diyos,” Momshie Rosell stated.
As Momshie Karla asked how they’ve been, Popshie Anthony recalled the sacrifices he had to do when their Anakshie Zoey got hospitalized and how the pandemic and the ABS-CBN’s disenfranchisement took a toll on him and their whole family.
“Dati ‘yong pagsubok sunod-sunod, ngayon ay patong-patong so kailangan mong maging matatag.
They went on to divulge the present challenge of their company that could lead to its possible closure if it won’t get resolved.
When asked for their advice to everyone who has been suffering like them during these trying times, Momshie Rosell said, “Number one talaga is ‘yong suporta ng family.
Apart from expressing her support to the Taberna Family, Momshie Jaya has another word of wisdom to everyone watching this episode of Magandang Buhay.
Just be kind and gentle to one another because at the end of the day, hindi mo alam kung anong pinagdadaanan ng kausap mo. And to have that transformation in your heart na magbigay ka lang ng kaunting compliment, kindness, kind work, anything. And that to me is a mark of a true person that has faith in God,” she stated.
Then she added, “Saka maniwala lang tayo na kapag pinagdadaanan natin ay sobrang bigat, ‘yong mga kasama natin sa bahay pwede natin kausapin. Let’s make each other listen to one another kasi tayo-tayo lang din ang magkakadamayan sa bandang huli. Trust the people you’re with, give them kindness and love, and continue to pray because ang Diyos lang talaga ang nakakaalam kung hanggang saan ang pagdadaanan natin.”
