Exactly seven years after tying the knot through a televised church ceremony in General Santos City, South Cotabato, Momshie Melai Cantiveros and her husband Jason Francisco had their kilig renewal vows live on Magandang Buhay, on Wednesday, December 9.
It was virtually presided by the same priest who officiated their wedding on December 9, 2013, Father Rogie Castellano, and was attended by her fellow momshie-hosts Jolina Magdangal-Escueta and Karla Estrada, her Mama Virgie, and their two adorable daughters Amelia Lucille and Stela Rosalind.
Inspired by the latest tracks of Korean pop groups BLACKPINK and BTS, Momshie Melai indeed amused and touched us with her vows for her beloved “Papang”.
“Papang, always remember that I’m always here for you. Si Lord ang center sa buhay natin and I promise you to cross the ocean for you, be your hero, be your strength, everything you need. Lahat nalampasan na natin at marami pa tayong malalampasan, basta kapit lang tayo kay God. Walang sukuan, ‘di ba? ‘Now look at you, look at me. Now look at you, look at me. How you like that’?
“Papang, always kong ipagdarasal na for you and me, we will not ‘kill this love.’ Ram-pa-pang-pa-pang-pa-pang. And pananatilihin kong maging sweet sa’yo like an ‘ice cream, chillin’, chillin’, ice cream’. So, Papang, for me you are always ‘shining through the city with a little funk and soul’ and you will always be the one to ‘light me up like a dynamite’. I love you,” Momshie Melai said.
Popshie Jason replied with a simple yet touching message for her, stating, “Ayokong mangako kasi ang hirap mangako ‘di ba?
I love you and I love your parents and our babies and soon to our more babies.”
And no virus could ever spoil the sweetness of this inspiring and lovely couple as Popshie Jason gave his beloved wife a kiss on the cheek when the priest told him that he could kiss his bride again.
While they looked very happy on their wedding day, did you know he wasn’t actually ready yet to get hitched to Momshie Melai then? According to him, although it was already his plan to have his own family with her and to marry her, but he thought that it wasn’t the right time yet.
But due to his huge respect to her devout Catholic parents, who firmly believed that they should get married before their firstborn comes out, he willingly obliged despite her parents’ offer for him to back out.
MelaSon also went on to describe how their life as husband and wife went in the past seven years of being together – from the adjustments and biggest challenges they had to go through, up to the sweet and redeeming moments they had together.
Just like any other couple, their first years were filled with adjustments, until their third year came when their marriage went on the rocks due to misunderstandings and conflicts in their personal and career lives. They confessed already parting ways that time – with Momshie Melai choosing to go on with life through her showbiz commitments then while Popshie Jason going back to his hometown in Mindoro.
However, they didn’t let those problems conquer them as they’re able to eventually fix their relationship on their fourth year, which was marked by the birth of their second daughter. They started with a clean slate and gave their marriage another shot – going back to the way they were before and living a joyful and peaceful life since then. Thus, their fifth and sixth year have been filled with outpouring blessings and happiness.
As Momshie Melai was pregnant when they marked the two remarkable milestones of their marriage in the past seven years, her Magandang Buhay co-hosts almost believed when she told them that her pregnancy test the night before turned out positive. But she immediately took it back and said that it was only a prank.
It can be recalled that MelaSon’s love story began during their stint in the Double-Up edition of Pinoy Big Brother in 2009 that produced Melai as the Big Winner.
Happy 7th anniversary, Momshie Melai and Popshie Jason!
