Doctor Cristina Valdez tackled on the difference between a stroke and a heart attack. Bare in mind that a heart attack transpires when the blood that is flowing to the heart is blocked by a blood clot, while a stroke is an attack that occurs in the brain when a blood vessel bursts. The neurologist underlined that there are ways to detect if a person is having a stroke, and one way would be by utilizing the ‘B- FAST test’, which shows certain symptoms such as confusion and slurring of the words; and when there is numbness in various parts of the body such as in the legs, arms or face. She also underscored that ‘time is of the essence’ and if someone is experiencing a stroke, they need to brought to the hospital right away. “Gusto natin i-treat ‘yung stroke. May time window lang na pwedeng nating i-reverse ‘yung stroke which is 4.5 hours,” she explained.
