‘Hard work pays off’ – this is a ubiquitous statement that we all try to abide by in order to keep up with our daily grind. It is true that when you put your blood, sweat and tears into your work, you will reap the benefits from your efforts. Being rewarded in the end may come in many forms such as money, awards, recognition or even a promotion. For Angeline Quinto, she was able to feel the fruits of her labor by building a home. For today’s episode, Magandang Buhay hosts Melai Cantiveros, Jolina Magdangal and Karla visited the singer and were lucky enough to take a look at Angeline’s beautiful sanctuary.
After being able to save enough money through hard work and winning Star Power back in 2011, Angeline was torn between the idea of buying an empty lot, or purchasing a house that was built already. With much thought, the Kapamilya singer decided to buy an empty lot and build her dream house. “Siyempre bilang galing Sampaloc, gusto ko talaga ‘yung mga bahay na nakikita ko dati na gustong-gusto ko. ‘Yun ‘yung gagawin sa bahay namin,”she emphasized.
Her dream house exudes a modern feel that is accentuated with white and green hues, which Angeline underscores is her lucky color. A huge star is emblazoned on the main entrance door, which has a significant meaning to her. The indoor decor is mostly limited to white and green colors as well, with a high ceiling while outside the house a large swimming pool can be found. She mentioned that there have been guests who constantly visit her, “Si Erik, siyempre madalas dito”. On the way up to the 2nd floor, coins can be found laid on the stairs for good luck, something that that Angeline firmly believes in. Her bedroom has a cool and simple feel to it, which sticks to the whole color theme of the house. But according to the talented artist, if she had to choose her favorite part of the house, it would be the kitchen because she loves to cook.
Since the Queen Of Teleserye Theme Songs loves to create her own dishes, she decided to share with the momshies her father’s recipe which is Pork Sisig, which consists of Liempo, Utak ng Baboy, Atay ng Manok, Calamansi, Onions, Mayonnaise, Green Chili, Pepper and Salt. Angeline reminded everyone to make sure that the Liempo, Atay ng Manok and Utak ng Baboy have already been cooked before mixing with the other ingredients. Sprinkle some Pepper and Salt in the bowl of Atay ng Manok, then mix with Mayonnaise, Onions, Green Chili, Red Chili, Utak ng Baboy, Liempo and fuse everything thoroughly until it’s ready to serve.
The girls were also joined by comedienne and talented singer K Brosas, who is now a very close friend of Angeline. K is also building her new home, something that she has worked hard for. Apart from being good friends and sharing a lot in common, the two Kapamiya stars were able to experience Typhoon Ondoy’s wrath back in 2009, which was an experience they both will never forget. Angeline recalled that her family were sleeping on the floor, when she noticed that the water was already entering their house. “Buti na lang nagising ako, kasi nakita ko ‘yung tubig pumapasok na sa bahay,” she narrated.
K’s house was also extremely affected by the typhoon, to the point that she and her daughter had to head to the roof of their house and stay there. “Pareho tayo, ako na-Undoy. Talagang nasa bubong kami ng anak ko,” she recalled. Therefore, they both decided to build their homes on higher ground, to prevent this from happening again and to keep safe.
K also put Karla on the hot seat and jokingly revealed that she is now dating someone. “May date siya (Karla) bukas, kasama ako kasi friends,” she teased. However, the MB host said that her son Daniel Padilla is quite strict with her and isn’t really keen on the idea of her dating. “Ok silang lahat ng anak ko, si Daniel lang ‘yung strict,” she disclosed.
Angeline isn’t the only one who is fond of cooking in her family - her mama Bob also has a passion for preparing dishes! It can be noted that she used to sell barbeques in different schools in the country namely San Beda, La Consolacion, San Sebastian and FEU. Today, she shared with the momshies the recipe of her famous barbeque, something that the hosts looked forward to. Karla, Melai and Joilna were so impressed with Mama Bob’s grilling skills, that they surprised her with her own Barbeque stall, in order for her to continue selling her scrumptious creation. The stall also had a sign that said “Mama Bob’s Special BBQ”, something she was very thankful for. “Maganda ang ibinigay ng Magandang Buhay, pang hanapbuhay,” she said thankfully.
K’s daughter Crystal also tagged along with the gang for lunch and gave a one of a kind performance of her own rendition of “Tell Me Where It Hurts” by MYMP. When asked how she felt about moving into a new home, Crystal admitted that she feels somewhat emotional because they have gone through so much in their humble abode. “Siyempre nung una sobrang saya. Pero nandun pa rin ‘yung mixed emotions kasi ‘yung tinitirhan namin ngayon, dun kami nag-resurrect. Dun din swinerte ako at ‘yung mommy ko,” Crystal elaborated. On another note, Crystal shared that she would want nothing more than her mother to be happy because she thinks it about time that she thought of herself. With all the hard work that K has done for her, Crystal believes that her mom deserves to be loved. “Binigay na niya lahat para sa akin, so ngayon naman time naman na merong isang lalake na mabigay naman sa kanya,” she said.
