Momshies Jolina Magdangal, Karla Estrada, and Melai Cantiveros are grateful for the recent feat of celebrating Magandang Buhay’s 5th anniversary. Time flies indeed when you are having fun. “Limang taon na pala na nag-eenjoy lang kami at natututo din kami kasama ‘yung mga nanonood sa amin. Maraming nagsasabi na nabibigyan namin sila ng saya pero ang totoo talaga mas nabibigyan nila kami ng saya,” expressed Jolina.
It’s worth noting how chemistry and content made Magandang Buhay such a hit among viewers especially moms. But more than that, the secret to longevity is always just having fun and loving what you do. “Kaunting seryoso pero mas maraming katatawanan,” Karla described their dynamics.
Of all their episodes for the past five years, Karla’s favorite would have to be her homecoming to Antique. She is a full-bloodied ‘waray,’ as we all know. But an important chapter of her life was formed in Antique, thus she was happy to go back to that place and even tour her friends around.
There’s no place like home for Melai as well, tracing her favorite episode back to her homecoming in General Santos City. It felt satisfying to relive her roots and at the same time immerse Jolina and Karla in her humble beginnings. “’Yung mga bago kong friends, napakilala ko sa mga dating kong friends, ‘yun ang pinaka the best.” And, of course, the feast over fresh tuna!
Remote episodes are likewise Jolina’s favorites because they always come home with hilarious, unforgettable memories that promise a fun reminiscing. “Halo-halo ‘yan, may hindi naging smooth ang taping pero alam mong kasama sa kwento ng Magandang Buhay, nandun lahat.”
Also a big part of Magandang Buhay’s anatomy is the inspiration it gives viewers through the guests’ touching stories. We bet the show has made you cry at least once. Jolina can testify, citing her favorite guests Yassi Pressman and her late Dad Ronnie, and Julia Montes and her Mom Gemma’s guestings. Stories about a parent’s love always move the Magandang Buhay momshies into tears.
Karla will also treasure their kids’ guestings on the show. “Makikita mo sa limang taon na lumipas, ang laki ng nilaki nila. It’s always unforgettable for me ‘pag nandiyan ang mga anak ko like si Daniel o si Magui pag nagho-host kasi milestone ‘yun sa career nila.” Re-watching those episodes make them feel nostalgic as they chronicle their children’s growth over the past five years.
On to more milestones that happened in Magandang Buhay, Melai will never forget Donny Pangilinan’s first-ever interview as a then-budding actor. It was at that time when Donny was still a new face in showbiz and still deciding his path. Melai feels privileged to have been part of the heartthrob’s successful journey.
The power momshies will star in the movie “Momshies! Ang Soul Mo’y Akin,” which is about three women – Karlene, Jolene, and Mylene – who live different lives. They get the biggest shock of their lives when they woke up trapped in each other’s bodies.
“Momshies! Ang Soul Mo’y Akin” will premiere on May 28 on KTX.ph, iWant TFC, TFC IPTV, Cignal PPV, and Sky Cable PPV. Joining the momshies in the cast are Thou Reyes, Manuel Chua, DJ Jhai Ho, Mitoy Yonting, Miko Gallardo, Juliana Parizcova Segovia, Pia Moran, Eris Aragoza, Francis Mata, and Jason Francisco.
