It’s a common belief among us Filipinos that grandparents tend to shower their grandkids more than their own children. They are likely to spoil them by granting everything they wish, spoiling them, and taking care of them up until they become adults.
While this has been the case for many families, veteran singer Pilita Corrales begged to differ during her guesting on Magandang Buhay last year, together with other grandmomshies Carol Santos, Paulette Magdangal, and Virgie Cantiveros.
For her, the affection she bestows towards her children and her grandkids are just the same.
“Ang mga apo ko, gano’n lang ang pagmamahal sa anak ko. Walang mas malaki,” she began and went on to explain, “Siyempre kasi, ang apo maliit. So you love them like when your children were small. Pero you love them the same as your children. For me.”

According to her, she never disciplined her apos as she lets her children do their job as parents.
“Hindi ko sila dinidisiplina,” she laughingly started off. “Because you know, their parents are there. Let them discipline their children. Ang sinabi ko naman kay Monching ‘tsaka kay Jackie Lou, when the children are with me, in my house, I’m the boss. So if they want to run and break this, I let them do everything because when they go back to [their] house, ‘di na nila pwedeng gawin‘yon.”
But when asked what would make her possibly meddle with her children’s way of raising their kids, Pilita stated that if she will catch them wrongfully berating or disciplining her beloved apos.
“Unang-una talaga, ayoko ‘yong nagpapalo so I never do that. Pero kung pinagalitan siya, let’s say ng nanay niya, and I see that she is wrong, I will tell my daughter. Kasi iba na ngayon e,” she divulged.
She also recalled how her mom used to interfere with her parenting strategy towards her daughter Jackie Lou Blanco.

Apparently, her beloved grandchildren are happy with the love and support they’ve been getting from their groovy and fun-loving ‘Mamita’ as what we could see in their posts on their respective Instagram accounts with her.
Another thing that we’ve noticed is how beauty seemingly runs in their blood as her female apos to her children Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Jackie Lou Blanco obviously inherited the mesmerizing allure the “Asia’s Queen of Songs” possesses.
Nothing may have been written yet about them, except Janine Gutierrez who’s been in showbiz for some years now and Arabella Davao who already appeared in It’s Showtime last 2019, but we’re certain that Rikkie Mae Davao, Maxine Gutierrez, and Jessica Gutierrez also have what it takes to be part of the industry!
